Best place for cheap, but good towels

Suddengeekgirl · 06/10/2014 07:13

I have ikea towels that are 15 and 12 years old. And john lewis ones that are 8+ and primark ones that must be 6+.

I think it's time we bought new ones. But they have to be on a budget.

So where is best for cheap but good quality towels?

Thanks! :)

ASDA Home ones are good

Yy to Asda.

Tbh I like Primarks, but agree, they have a 5/6 yr lifespan.

Im about to replace my Primark ones with all Asda ones.

I got a set of John Lewis egyptian cotton ones when we got married 3.5yrs ago and am not impressed with them at all.

I bought some from BHS (you will have to wait for the sale though if you want as cheap as Primark) about 4 years ago and they still look brand new. Not much more expensive than Primark but my Primark towels fell apart and went all out of shape.

Wilkinsons do good ones - the normal ones, not the more expensive ones

TKMaxx is definitely worth a look. I also have towels from tesco which have lasted for years and still look good. Lasted longer than either John Lewis or M & S.

I was very surprised at the quality of Asda towels ...we are now 2 years in and still look as new (I didn't go for white, which probably helps)

i have a BHS towel that is 23 years' old and old M&S ones.

i think John Lewis sale at Christmas if you could hang on or M&S.

I think buying too cheap is a false economy.

the Ultimate range from BHS are a Good Housekeeping Institute recommended buy. Lots of colours too!

If you're after bath sheets, wilkinson's luxury are great for £12. Good size, thick and absorbant. My boys love them and they wash/tumble dry well.

I like Soak & Sleep for their bedding because the quality and price are great.

I assume it is the same for their towels.

I think it has been recommended before that suppliers of bedding and towels to hotels are typically excellent value for money too.

It might be worth doing a search but this supplier seems to have some good stuff at a reasonable price www.richardhaworth.co.uk/.

Another recommendation for BHS Ultimate towels - thick and soft, good quality, especially if discounted!

OP, this Sunday, Aldi will have Egyptian cotton towels as part of its Special Buys.
It might be worth checking them out.

Here they are.

I have some BHS ones bought for me by my mum when I left home - 12 or 13 years ago - still the nicest towels I own, thick, soft and not showing any sign of age!

Ikea best for us. Asda close second. I like the hanging loop/label on the ikea ones.

I like Next towels, wash and keep their colour well. My MIL loves Primark for towels and bedding and the ones I've saw in her house are lovely.

I bought some discounted Christy towels recently. They're washing and wearing v well. Better than my J Lewis ones.

We have Matalan towels that we bought to take on holiday 14 years ago, they still look and feel good, and wash well..should probably replace them soon

I have some old ones of my dad's we still use for swimming- they were bought from marks & spencer about 45 years ago. I bet they don't make them like that anymore! They are fantastic.

I don't think our John Lewis Egyptian cotton towels have worn as well as I'd like- the edges have come unstitched on one and they have pulled- but they are nice and soft. Our expensive Sheridan ones get really crunchy quite easily.

I don't like big fluffy towels - much prefer IKEA's which are light and easy to dry.
