We've got the dyson one, it's great but not powerful or long-lasting enough for a large house with thick carpet. We had to go out and buy a normal hoover as well once we moved from a flat with hard floors to a house with fluffy carpet.

However, it's great for hard floors and if you only do a couple of rooms a day rather than the whole house, the battery lasts long enough, and it's very light and convenient, just like picking up a broom for a quick sweep!

We've got a Dyson too and haven't replaced our mains operated Miele since it broke down 6 months ago (we have a small house, mostly carpeted, I can do the whole house in one go provided I only do the middles of rooms, not all the corners, under furniture etc, that has to be done a room at a time). It is very handy that it has short as well as long nozzles for doing the stairs, car, etc too.

Our only problem is storage, it's designed to be hung on a wall and kept plugged in while not in use, we haven't got a suitable bit of wall anywhere. It isn't freestanding. We take the long nozzle off and just keep the short part plugged in in a corner of the room.

I bought a Dyson Animal cordless in the end and I love it !

I have cats and it's very useful in hand held mode for getting hair off sofas, curtains etc and fine for the floors. Our old one packed up about when we got the cats do can't compare really. Ours practically never goes flat as we use it in short bursts, a bit different if you have a cleaner. You can't use it when it's plugged in even if the cord would reach.

yes have the wall mounted one. It lasts for 26 minutes unless you put it on Max. We have a small house with hard floors downstairs and it absolutely perfect for us.

Fab for doing the stairs and can even take it out to do the car as well

you can just charge from the plug without the holder thing. it does take 3 1/2 hours to charge though

We keep the attachments in a cupboard, detach the head and leave it plugged in on it's own in a corner of the dinroom

dining room, sorry, phone keyboard fail. If you have the long nozzle still attached it doesn't prop up in a corner very well as it is too top heavy.
