Do you steam clean your carpets?

I had a very stubborn big stain on carpet which I just finally got rid of by using bissell oxy pro spray and then steam cleaning it.

I'm really impressed by the effective combination, when all else failed.

So now I'm wondering about getting a steam mop for the carpets.

Thought I'd check with you all first..in case steaming carpets isn't very good for them, or any tips.

I know steam mops are popular here for hard floors.

I have a steam mop that converts into a handheld steamer. I don't generally use the mop on the carpets, just hard floors but the handheld bit is brilliant at getting stains out of carpets when you use the jet nozzle thingie.
Apart from anything else, they are also brilliant at steaming the rest of the house! I love mine!

My MIL and I bought one between us and I am not so keen on the handheld part but using on my tiled kitchen floor it is wonderful, it then easily pops into a carpet glider and I go over the living room and dining room carpets. The very first time I did this even DP commented on how much better the carpets looked. Very handy, except all the unplugging and plugging in you have to do due to power cord not being overly long. But this could just be the model I have, maybe I am spoiled with the ever expanding Hoover cord Smile

I steam mine every couple of months. I spot treat any spillages or stains asap and then every so often i steam the whole thing. It really does spruce your carpets up, all the high traffic areas where the fibres flatten all spring back up again or furniture indentations. I've had to move rental properties a lot and I always steam the carpets on exit and get lots of praise on my exit inspections at how i took the time to "get the carpets steam cleaned" Wink

I have a carpet cleaner. I use it every 1-3 months depending on the carpets (all upstairs and no food allowed upstairs at the moment as the dc are only young and messy).

No steam cleaner yet but eyeing them up for downstairs wooden floors.
