Elfa racking

Of course, you may have to sell the house to afford it.

ooh, yes, I'd have Ikea Algot shelving, a bit cheaper than Elfa.

www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/departments/secondary_storage/11468/

we have it in our home office, it's great.

that's the kind of thing, thank you Smile

I'm sure I've seen gadgets over the years that I've thought 'oooh that looks useful' but now that I'll have some room I can't think of any of them! maybe they're just not that useful....

Get a wall mounted iron holder which screws onto the wall. They have a metal plate on them so you can safely put a hot iron away and the cable wraps round the prongs round the outside.

I wouldn't get a pull down ironing board - you can only use that in the room it's installed in.

You can get tool holders that grip the handles of mops, brooms, etc and keep them off the floor, or a simply row of hooks would do.

thanks all. barely do any ironing as it is, but thinking ahead for dcs uniform. in fact have no idea if current iron works, have been using my straighteners for any tiny bits that needed doing!

We have a ceiling pulley and it is great. Can get a full load of washing on it, overnight. There is a company that do Sheila Maid if you google it and Lakeland do one, as well as ikea.

Just make sure you have it fixed into a couple of ceiling joists as it is heavy when full of washing.

A good shoe and coat rack.

I'd put up a sturdy hook to hang the ironing board on and yy to iron holders. You can put a hot iron on them too

I have shelves and they were built at the right height for a set of large supermarket bought plastic boxes, one per household member. They collect their box into which I have folded clean laundry and put it away. Worked even before they were old enough. It means I sort stuff as it comes out of the machine.

Smile thank you. some brilliant ideas. we are tight on space so thinking Ikea might be the best place to turn to, they seem to be good at squeezing things in

I clicked on this link to find out what a Sheila's maid is. Never heard of it before. You learn something new every day!

My utility room is a total mess. Filled with children's craft boxes, scissors glitter etc to keep it out of their reach. Xmas decorations, all sorts of stuff. I really need to clear it out and get organised.
