Freezer door open for around 8 hours!!!! Help!

Help. Do I need to bin all the food. The door was left slightly ajar but we didn't hear the alarm until the early hours. The food still felt frozen so shut the door.

On reading the manual this morning it said that once the temperature has been compromised it keeps the food just at 0 degrees until you reset it and food should be binned.

Really? I will bin the beef burgers but oven chips? Or shall I just cool it all today????

If you hadn't read the manual you wouldn't have known
that though would you ?

My instincts tell me if its still solid it's ok anything dodgy I'd defrost and cook today. Infact you can defrost raw food cook and refreeze quite safely

When its happened to me I've eaten food that become unfrozen and we've lived !!

I'd re freeze veg. Defrost the freezer if it's all icey. Eat anything meaty that's already been cooked (like bolognese, casserole) needs to be eaten within a couple of days. Any raw meat can be cooked and then frozen. Not sure what you do with fish, but probably treat like meat.

The contents should be OK if still pretty solid but mark them and then cook in the next day or so. You can freeze things that have been raw frozen and then cooked. For example, frozen mince you should thaw fully, make Bolognese and then freeze in portions.

Fish I would put in fridge to defrost properly and eat today/tomorrow.

Yes eat anything like stews that have already been cooked and frozen immediately today.

Today might be a good day to throw a soiree?

You don't need to bin the burgers. Put in fridge and eat today tomorrow as if fresh meat.

Great thanks. I will just cook as much as poss today I think. I will give DH the burgers! I don't have fish or meat in there. Is mostly leftover pasta sauces, convenience foods and ice cream! Mainly veggie here.

The kids will get the pizza and chips for tea!
