what should I attack with my new steam cleaner?

Yes I am that sad and old that I actually received Lakeland vouchers for my birthday and put them towards a steam mop/ cleaner ( and I am talking about it on a Saturday night).

I have done the kitchen floor and the cooker hood and hob, what other jobs are they good at?

Pull the detergent drawer out of the washing machine. Now look in the hole. Look at its 'ceiling' (this requires bending down and peering upwards). See if you've got the same black mouldy mess that I've got.

If yes, please blast it with your blasting steam attachment thingy and report back.

If you have a gas cooker do the holes under the burner ring thingies (technical eh?) Brings them up a treat. Saturday nights aren't the same these days!

I wasn't actually planning to do any more cleaning tonight, eating some nice dark chocolate at the minute, just planning ahead.

I took mine out of the box today (Vax) and have had a tremendous time with it.

I have cleaned 2 very mandy bathrooms, getting in under shower doors, round toilets and scrubbed tiles and steamed the floors.

I have done some of the windows, but more to do tomorrow.

Tomorrow I am doing the kitchen - dishwasher, cooker and floors and, thanks to this thread, the washing machine too.

What else?

I felt very middle aged when my colleague was off to spend the weekend getting drunk and going to a concert while I was going to steam my house.

The grotty bits at the bottom of the shower where the glass attaches or is that just me get shot away. Back of the loo, behind the cistern. i'll think of some more in a minute

Defrost the freezer with it. S'amazing

I use mine when I need to defrost the freezer speedily. Does the whole fridge-freezer sin about 20 mins. Also use it (with care) on the windows, the doors and frames, kitchen cupboard fronts and the granite worktops.

How much was this wondrous item? All recommendations for well-priced ones by other enthusiasts on the thread will be gratefully received.

Mine cost about £120. It's the Kärcher SC2500. It's fab but I believe it's much pricier in the UK than here in Germany.

Never thought of defrosting the freezer.

Was £80 pounds from Lakeland, but I had vouchers towards it.

It will report back tomorrow on further experiments.

So far it seems very good at the greasy dust you get in kitchens and dirty child handprints on wipeable walls.

Mine was 89.99 on Amazon. The Vax S6, I think.

Am resisting spending Saturday night steam cleaning my drawers (ooh missus) but will report back.

Offended at being accused of being on a binge, it was a small amount of posh chocolate I'll have you know.

I confess I partially bought my steam mop as a treat for DH who sometimes does the kitchen floor in the morning, I thought a gadget would encourage him.

Is there anything they're not safe to steam? I'm thinking of getting one.

Are they ok on tile grout? How about the sealant round a bath edge?

Oven and splashback.

The bits were the loo seat connects to the pan, the hinges and whatnot. But make sure to hold a folded cloth behind, otherwise the steam sprays the gunk onto the wall or cistern.
