Is your heating on? On 5 May?

After all these years I still can't get my head round the fact DH wants the heating on so much more than me. E.g. Every morning before we get up, even on sunny days in May like today. And he still wants the underfloor heating on in the kitchen. Is this normal? Am I too stingy or warm blooded?

I put ours on about an hour ago, but it hasn't been on for the rest of the day. We're in London.

Have just lit the fire

Bowlersarm Mon 05-May-14 20:16:30

Yes. It's cold!

Nocomet Mon 05-May-14 20:17:37

No, but it's a South facing house and the suns been shining.

However, it's still not as warm as May often is.

Ilikesweetpeas Mon 05-May-14 20:18:30

Yes, it's cold tonight!

Nancery Mon 05-May-14 20:20:09

Yes! We have the central heating on in the morning because it's horrible getting up when it's very cold, and I've got the wood burner in the front room now. To be honest, I always have the wood burner on and this is extremely hot because it's just really nice to have that sort of heat.

No mine has been off a few weeks but do put fire on in an evening if it drops too cold

buy DH some slippers

MinesAPintOfTea Mon 05-May-14 20:23:14

I put it on one chilly day last week. I wear slippers and a jumper first though

kinkytoes Mon 05-May-14 20:25:47

Doesn't matter what the date is, if it's cold it's cold! The good old English weather is sent to try us.

TheBookofRuth Mon 05-May-14 20:26:39

Ours is on for about an hour in the early morning, as poor DH gets up for work at 5.30. And I had it on in one afternoon last week for a couple of hours as it was quite chilly.

WipsGlitter Mon 05-May-14 20:27:19

No! But only because our boilers broken. Have lit the (gas) fire though!! I'm in NI and us wet and chilly here!! Hot water bottle tonight.

cariadmawr Mon 05-May-14 20:27:51

Yes freezing here west wales .

PigletJohn Mon 05-May-14 20:29:33

mine is on a programmable thermostat, so I let it decide when the house is too cold. It came on for short periods today.

PuntCuffin Mon 05-May-14 20:33:27

No. Sitting here with windows and patio doors open, listening to the birds. Thermostat is set at 18C all winter so I feel like I am cooking as soon as spring arrives.

BillyBanter Mon 05-May-14 20:34:00

I nearly did last night but then I realised I was cold because I was still wearing only my mid afternoon sunny spring weather clothes rather than spring sundown late evening clothes. After layering up I did not need the heating on.

Meglet Mon 05-May-14 20:36:05

Yes. In Hampshire.

It's on in the mornings too.

lloydlf76 Mon 05-May-14 20:36:36

No ours hasn't been on for at least a month now.

poshme Mon 05-May-14 20:39:00

Ours is on a thermostat. We turned off morning heating a month or so ago cos its so expensive (LPg)
In the evenings it kicks in if its below 16 or I light the woodburner.

greensnail Mon 05-May-14 20:40:01

Not got ours on, but am sitting under a blanket with a cat as a hot water bottle smile
