Please recommend me a good kitchen bin!

Sorry for such a boring thread but I cant face wading through a million reviews on Amazon for a new bin!
I need something medium sized (around 30l) which is square backed so can sit against the wall and is easy to empty a dustpan into, so not a small push top bin.
I don't have a £100 budget more like £50, am not keen on noisy clangy lids though.
Plastic is fine as its not on view but would like something which will last.
Any suggestions?
TIA

I've had a Simplehuman bin for around 5 years now and it's brilliant. Smart and stylish and unlike Brabantia the lid hasn't broken. I don't buy the superhuman bags as they are expensive - just use Supermarket own brand 30litre ones which fit fine.
Mine is like this but with a black plastic lid and is a half moon shape.

Just realised that is only a 10 litre one. Mine is more like this

Thanks for that, does yours have a flat back too? Cant tell from the link.
Looks right price wise and I know S Human are meant to be very good and robust.

Mine does, but it's difficult to tell from that link whether that one does! Might be worth checking it in store. For some reason there's a big price difference between some of the 30 litre ones!

One word - brabantia , mine has been brilliant and is well over ten years old and looks as good as new.

Brabantia definitely.

We've got one of these which sits inside a cupboard. Smaller than you want but we don't buy bin liners as we just use old carrier bags.

I have a Brabantia bin (now broken) but I cant afford a new one they are around £100 for the size I want - at least I couldn't see a big flat back one I could afford.

I'm done with expensive bins and now have this cheapo thing it's brilliant (ok so not square) it's huge, the lid comes off and goes in the dishwasher when it needs. and best of all it's thirteen quid Grin

We have the same one Furball. I've also been through the entire bin range and they all suck so I went for cheap, cheerful and big. It's as good as any other I've had.

Thanks, a plastic bin fine with me but don't want black, will look at Argos for a white or cream version I think.

Brabantia definitely. However, the lids are easily broken but that's not a problem as you can get a free replacement by calling or applying online. I have had 3 new lids

Panacotta there is a ten year guarantee on them ?

The spring broke on mine and they just gave me a new lid !

I have the same as Furball but grey. We have had several expensive ones but prefer this over any of the others. It's so much easier to empty and clean etc.

We have this one which is amazing, and can even lock the lid if DD2 is being tiresome.
It has two sections so we have recycling in one and normal stuff in the other.
We got it for about £50 on amazon IIRC.

Brabantia sent me a replacement lid when mine broke. I think they have a lifetime guarantee or something - give them a call, they were lovely -unless you have chucked it out already...

I have two of the Curver Deco bins below. They are fab for the price because:
...they are flat backed
...they look metal but are plastic so don't get rust spots or water marks
...the lids are very easy to clean

Top find, in my opinion. We have one for rubbish and one for recycling, they take a standard swing bin liner.

Ikea do a good bin, link here only 7.50 for 28l, we have smaller 10l ones for bathroom

Also have a Curver Deco, great price, looks good as far as bins go and seems to be robust.

The lid broke on my 12 year old Brabantia. I phoned, and they sent me out a new lid straight away.

Rest of the bin still looks as good as new.

Since then I have bought other Brabantia products, as they are excellent quality and their customer care is second to none.

this is the first thread I've ever checked all the links on! clearly I love a good bun. I can't believe how many people have had a problem with the brabantia but don't seem annoyed. I'd hate to be getting replacements all the time!

el cheapo grey Addis is the winner for us and a filur for recycling.

Thanks all.
My Brabantia is around 15 years old and is knackered, broken pedal, damaged lid and is scratched too, so not worth sorting out plus the lid clangs shut.
I would like a pale cream/white bin to blend in with the pale walls so the Curver ones look a bit dark.
I like the IKEA one and will go for that if I place an order soon (live too far to go to a store).

We had those ikea bins, they are great and easy to clean. We only replaced when Dd2 started putting random stuff in them so we wanted one which was lockable.
I still use the ikea ones for storing stuff now, they are very versatile.
We used two side by side, one for recycling and one for normal rubbish.
