Oil stain on matt paint

The decorators left on Friday,I have already made a mark on the kitchen wall :(
I think it was oil from the roast chicken which had splashed the wall stupid walls with no tiles.
Any ideas on getting rid of it,it's cream paint & I don't want to make it worse!

Did you use a specific washable / kitchen paint? If so it should be up to being wiped with a dilute washing up liquid solution which around
should remove the oil stain.

Not washable kitchen paint,matt emulsion. It's a new build & they use same paint throughout the house.

I had this with baby oil. We could not get if off and when we repainted it kept coming through. I suspect it was because I left it for so long before I did anything.

How annoying. Getting tiles or something wipeable is the best solution though. The kitchen needs to be able to cope with some messy moments.

Failing that could, you rub that bit down and retouch it up?

Talc if it's white paint, it'll soak up some of the oil.

Ideally you should have washable, moisture and grease resistant paint in your kitchen but with it being a new build they've finished it with plain emulsion for their ease and also because newly plastered walls need to fully dry out before being painted with something non-breathable like kitchen / bathroom / washable paint. Leave it a couple of months then repaint in a kitchen paint in the colour of your choice?

If it's new build matt paint, it may be one that is permeable and allows the wet new plaster to dry out. This one is not very durable and may come off with vigorous cleaning.

Well,it's kind of gone. I sanded it with paper towel & bicarb. Then a touch of fairy liquid,then dried & reprinted. Hopefully dh won't notice it was ever there :)
