I need a new washing machine and have absolutely no idea what's best to go for. The only places I can think to buy one from is Currys or Argos. Anywhere else? Somewhere that will deliver and preferably fit it and take my old one away. What should I looking out for? Oh Christ, I'm even boring myself. Thank you in advance Grin

I got a new washing machine recently I love it! The best thing is it counts down how long until the wash finishes, it's such a good idea also has 7kg drum and lots of wash options suits us! Ours was from cirrus, they sometimes do cash back for old etc

I second using Appliances online as their service is great and they fit and take the old one away. Ordered a new fridge at 9.30pm one night and t was delivered and fitted at 7.45 next morning.

I'd say a Bosch, depending on your budget.

A bottom-of-the-range Bosch will be more reliable than a top-of-the-range lesser brand.

I third appliances online. Got my brand new 9kg 1600spin hotpoint washing machine yesterday and I love it. I order plenty of stuff online and they're one of the best companies to deal with. They ring the morning of delivery with a one hour timeslot. I've used them before too.

I followed the advice of buying a cheaper Bosch from currys. Currys messed up the order (I hate them) so I cancelled it and went straight to ao.

It's lucky cos I've since taken the which trial for £1 (if you buy from appliances Direct - not same as appliances online - at the mo, you get £20 off when you sign up for the which trial) and the Bosch only scored 53% as opposed to the 67% two kilo bigger and extra 400 spin hotpoint that I've ended up with.

One thing currys have going for them though is that they remove old appliance for free -ao charge 9.99 and they're both 20 to connect the New one. Ao is usually much cheaper though. Curry now have the cashback thing to entice customers but you can only reclaim the money after 21 days and you have to fill out a form and give your bank details. Many people don't bother or forget - they bank on this!

Let me fourth ao.com Grin good price, helpful delivery, and I chose to get rid of my old washer-drier rather than pay £10 so they called me and offered to take it for free Confused

Oh! And I connected it myself - easy peasy! Was a bit more tricky to push it into place myself after I'd done that though...

Ahh can't believe they took it for free in the end! I was annoyed at having to pay but we've enough to be doing at the mo without dh having to sort that so we gave in quite easily and paid! You can usually find someone on a local Facebook site who would take it for free (parts) or currys will take it if you drop it into them regardless of where you buy the New one. Dh connected it too... Not a difficult job but awkward!

So op, what do you want from your washing machine :) . What kinda loads do you normally do a week?

I've got a Siemens. Because DH and I are childish and the name made us laugh. Takes 8kg. From a local independent. I really wanted a Miele but too £££.

do you have a special towel for wiping it?

ao.com again

very fast delivery in less than 24 hours to an awkward address near low bridge. Good text messages and phone calls from driver. Competitive prices, I wouldn't bother looking anywhere else.
