Ikea sink over zealous cleaning damage.

I have an ikea Boholmen double stainless steel sink. Last year on the smaller drainer I used something ( I think it was bleach with limescale remover that did it ) which dulled the bottom of the sink and left it with a sort of dull bloom. No-one else would notice it, because they have lives, but it drives me a little barmy cos I love a nice shiny sink.
Anyone seen this dulling of a sink from cleaner before ? Google hasn't really helped.

you probably used an acid cleaner. Stainless steel is very resistant to rust provided it has air present, as it forms a layer of tarnish, but some chemicals can destroy the protective layer and it will corrode. I'd rub it with a nylon scourer and something like Shiny Sinks. If very bad use Barkeepers Friend which is a fine abrasive.

When polishing metal (or cars) rub to and fro in one direction only, in line with the brushing, if it has it, never in circles, or they will always show.

Mirror finish is much harder to keep looking smart.
