couldn't get hang of induction hob on holiday - putting me off buying one

We are having a kitchen extension done soon and thinking about appliances. It seems everyone (or nearly everyone) on here raves about induction hobs, but I used one on holiday a couple of years ago and wasn't that impressed. It seemed to heat things up too fast, catching the bottom of sauces and things. Also bleeped a lot. And I didn't like the touch button controls which you had to press down hard on - seemed like a faff compared with a twiddly knob. It WAS fab to keep clean.

Do you get used to the actual controls once you've had one a while? I'm wondering if it's just because I wasn't there long enough to get a good feel for what numbers certain things should be set to?

I love mine, but it is a free standing belling cooker. It has knobs instead of a touch screen. It has 9 heat settings, all very accurate with no hot spots. Life changing, so much better than our old electric one and much cleaner and safer than a gas hob.

It did take around a month to get used to mine, no hot spots, 9 heat settings plus a rapid one. Heats up my hob top kettle as quick as an electric rapid boil on that.

Absolutely love it and I've switched over from gas and absolutely hated electric hobs.
