Can you claim on your contents insurance?

Some years ago our DS spilt lime pop on our cream wool carpet, couldn't get it to come out, even with a shampooer. We'd had it down over 10 years, so just went to the carpet shop to buy another. The lady in the carpet shop asked us if we'd claimed - had never crossed our minds. Anyway, we made a claim, the man came out and had a look, agreed we would never get the stain out and paid out enough money to buy the same standard of carpet again.

Professional carpet cleaners can usually do it. Insurance companies often only give you the cost of cleaning these days. Modern carpet cleaners are very quick and efficient and carpet dry almost immediately. Good luck!

My friend has three kids and cream carpets. She says a cleaner once told her to spray and rub stains with a bleach solution and it works a treat.

I'm not sure what ratio if bleach to water you should have and I'd recommend a test on a hidden bit first.

I've heard that baking soda can remove red wine stains, why not coffee split? You should try it :)

I did exactly the same a few years ago, (full mug of espresso) and tried glycerine on kit.roll after mopping as much as possible. Difficult to tell when it's out, but should be rinsed afterwards with lukewarm water and patted as dry as possible. Mine took two tries, but is no longer visible.

Bit late now but in the event off another spill soak up as much as possible with towels first then use a cloth soaked in cold water and dab rather than scrub the stain. Then more towels on top to soak up the water.
