Fantastic. I have tiled floors thought the ground floor and they are gleaming. The grout is white. My hob is sparkling. My back hurts but I got carried away.
I am so going to get the iron attachment.

I think so. Though I notice that I have had to spend my time cleaning my windows myself, as no one has actually appeared brandishing cleaning stuff. (I must say, it's nice to be able to see out of the window without being distracted by the film of grime over it.)

Yes, I got one too, just after Christmas.Mine was a cheap type ( no attachments other than floorsand carpets). Cost 24.00 and the house has never been cleaner - on the floors anyway.

Would recommend to a friend.

I recommended one to my mother. She got a Pifco 5 in 1 ( sale at B&M is 29.99) which is lighter than mine but she loves hers too.

Do things actually have to be clean first? A friend of mine said it won't work on deep filth like my house and would just move it around.....

My kitchen and bathroom both have sheet vynal floors. Yes, it does work. Brought them both up a treat. The bathroom one even had some spots of ground in stain and it took those out too.

The trick is to run it over constantly back and forward I have found.That way you have an almost dry floor as it leaves the site.

Ifyou need to get out a dried in spot , then just rest it a second ortwo and it lifts. Go back over, and then again if necessary. Magic.

It is not hard work because it is light anyway , there is no left over wet floor

I got another tip on here. I use. I put a drop of ironing water in with the tank to give the rooms a nice clean smell.

I have a Prolex , cost 24.99 from B&M stores.Does floors and carpets only. I dont tend to do walls etc. ( had a kettle years ago and it sits in the cupboard unused). The Pifco 5 in 1 my mother got she swears by. She has attachments and tends to use the window cleaner and the grime attachment for the cooker. Hers was 29.99 from B&M too.

QueenofKnickers, yes that is exactly what my DH said. We acquired one a few days ago, and he followed me around on its first outing with a dry mop picking up the filth I had loosened. We are now at the stage when dirt adheres to the cloth cover supplied with the cheapo Prolex ( five covers actually) and it is just as satisfactory and works precisely as Kitten says.

I love my polti too - especially the iron attachment, my husband's shirts are double cuff oxford cotton ones and it breezes straight through them !

Am wavering between a £30 cheapy (possibly Pifco 6in1) or the Polti linked above with a definite leaning towards the Polti.

I'm hoping to make cleaning my tiled bathrooms (especially grout and glass shower screens) easier with added bonus of mopping wooden floors.
Any extras will be a bonus.

Have never really understood steam cleaners. But this thread seems to suggest that you can clean floors, carpets, ovens, curtains and iron shirts with them. Really? Sounds like some sort of voodoo to me.

Because I left mine on too long probably with no water in and it got too hot to touch

The assistant had never seen that fault before and gave me a new one and put the broken one on the shop floor to never sell.

BonaDea, i think you need to be a little cautious with wood. The only wood we have downstairs is a sort of threshold between kitchen and conservatory, some kind of tropical hardwood. Our cleaner and I were initially delighted with the way the mop got off loads of dirt, but after it dried it looked as if the grain was raised and some of the nice reddish colour had gone. Maybe some others on here will advise about the mop and wood floors.

If woodwork is looking grotty, you're better off giving it a deep clean with white spirit, unless you're concerned about removing a load of wax.

I need to get my stem cleaner out, but my back and hands have been horrendous, recently. This week might be the week I get the grey gunk out of the tops of my bathroom taps, though.
