Where to get new towels and should we wait for the sales?

Our towels are beginning to fray and tear so I think it is time to indulge in new ones. We mostly want bath sheets and would like lovely fluffy towels, not ludicrously expensive, but we tend to spend JL prices on things.

Can anyone recommend lovely towels please and whether we would do best to wait for the sales?

I like christy towels. They are always in the sales in department stores after christmas, and on their own website too. Comparable with JL prices.

I was recommended Matalan towels a few years ago and haven't been disappointed.

I like Christy and I also have some towels from the BHS Ultimate range which are thick/heavy. It came top in Good Housekeeping consumer testing one year. www.goodhousekeeping.co.uk/news/win-a-bhs-towel-set

I usually buy Christy but recently bought a Tesco bath towel just for decorative purposes (changed cloakroom colours) and am amazed at how good it is!

I found it hard to get bath sheets that were wide as well as long - lots of them seemed to be too short to cover your bottom if you had the towel wrapped around your shoulders!

I found some in Habitat of all places and they are good and thick. (Mind you, was a while ago now so they might have changed their sizes)

Over the last 25 years I have tried lots of towels searching for the ultimate fluffy luxuriousness. By far my favourite is from Tesco!

I'm planning on looking in John Lewis in January.

I got some towels in the JL January sale last year, their 'special purchase' ones that they only bring out at sales, they are still nice and fluffy and soft now after a lot of use this year.

We have John Lewis Egyptian Cotton bath sheets and love them. Been using them just over a year and they're still fluffy.

I have the BHS Ultimate bath sheets and they are v luxurious. However, my washing machine is 7kg and I can only wash two of them at a time as they are so bulky and fluffy. (Can add a few smaller garments in, but cant fit 3 bath sheets in) Not sure how this compares to other bath sheets as this was the first set Ive owned, purchased based on Good Housekeeping recommendation iirc

King of Cotton are best ever, we bought a couple of bath sheets in premium range and they are amazing.

The White Company do huge Bath sheets. You can get them at a reduced price in their sale but probably not in white. (They do other colours such as stone). They last and are fluffy if you tumble dry them.

Try M&S Autograph towels. Bath sheets are 180cm by 89cm, I find them plenty big enough. Thick and plush too!

I've bought BHS and M&S towels and definitely preferred BHS.

Dunhelm Mill also sell Dorma towels which are even better, but rarely on a discount so it's a matter of keeping an eye open and snapping then up in the very rare discounted period!

Christy for me, cath kidston for little ones.

If you really want them buy them but you will definitely save money in the sales. House of Fraser have a good towel sale.

Another vote for Dunhelm bath sheets here. They last forever and come up fluffy every wash.

BHS are great. I bought some about3 years ago and they are still lovely and soft and thick.

Also JL, still have my towels from Uni (18 years old and still going strong)
