Tesco saucepan offer

Does anyone know if the new saucepans are really good quality, or just pretending to be?

I've just got some, I think they are quite good quality. No way would they ever sell for what the RRP supposedly is but for the Tesco prices they're ok.

I haven't got the ones on the offer but Fissler is a good brand. I have Fissler pans; they're completely indestructible. I've had them for ten years and they were my aunt's for at least two decades before that. She gave them to me when I went away to uni just as she redid her kitchen so they've been through all sorts of student abuse in the last decade as well as being 30 years old and the only sign of their age is that every so often one of the handles falls off (but doesn't actually break, so easily remedied with a screwdriver).

I thought the same when they did the alessi cutlery offer as it just felt like a scam having £225 taken off my bill. But, the cutlery was (and still is) really good quality and does retail for the extortionate prices quoted. I might buy the griddle pan

These promo's are what's known as a 'loss leader'. The promotion may actually cost T's a bit of money, but it's unlikely. as they bank on people choosing to shop there instead of A's or similar purely to build up the points/coupons needed. The increase in profits helps to balance the cost to Tesco of running the promo, and additionally, many people will switch to T's to start collecting, but drift away before completing their card or whatever. This means that T's have benefited by the increase in business, but ultimately haven't had to pay out the reward.

Ergo, the items on offer can still be excellent quality, because the promo will ultimately pay for itself many times over.

Hope this explanation doesn't sound to patronising, I didn't intend it to be so!

I wondered too if they were really on sale at the price Tesco claim they are 'worth'. I was quite surprised to find Fissler pans really DO cost huge amoutns (to me) of money. If you search Amazon you will find Fissler pans there to compare.

I bought the 28" stir fry pan via the offer and it is very good heavy quality which you really need for a wok, and am going to get the griddle pan and a saucepan or two for DD1 who is setting up house.

I bought 4 place settings of the cutlery too when T were doing that offer and really love it, quality stuff. I wouldn't normally spend so much on either pans or cutlery but these offers do seem to make good quality brands available at (just) affordable prices to us paupers.

Does anyone know if your able to use these on a induction hob please? Been looking at the pans but cannot see the info. They look okay for the price
