Fairy liquid in dishwasher - Help!

DS thought he would kindly help me by putting the dishwasher on. There were only a few things in it as I'd runout of tablets and had been hand washing until I went to the shop later to buy some more.

He's never been this 'helpful' before Shock

It was making an awful noise and when I opened it there were suds everywhere! (Think bubble bath in a jacuzzi Smile)

We've scooped them all out but when I tried it in a rinse program it still made an awful noise! So turned it off again!!

Any ideas anyone? Is it knackered??!!

I did this, mind you I only used a spot of Fairy and according to what I read online, the suds activted an anti flood device.

What we did was to drain out all water.remove filters and mop up any water with a sponge,dh then pulled it out and laid it first on its back, then on its side, this drains any water from the base that shouldnt be there,be prepared for water all over the floor, mine then started working again and is still going now.

If you do this,I would give the inside a good sponge with water to try and remove any trace of Fairy, good luck.

Chuck part of a bar of soap in - it will get rid of all the bubbles

A bit of butter grease seems to kill the bubbles.
