How often do you sweep?

Firstly, I'm so not brave enough for AIBU so hope I can get an idea of normal from you lovely people.

The downstairs of our house is almost completely open plan- kitchen, dining room, living room and hall. The floor is a beechy laminate type.

How often would you sweep it?

I only ask because my husband's jaw hit the floor today when I suggest he swept, as apparently he swept AND mopped it only a week ago.

I'm not going mad am I?! Floors should be swept at least weekly, right?!

Kitchen swept 2 or 3 times daily and remainder of wooden flooring every other day. Mopped once per week. Husband questions why it needs mopped every week too!

Sweep most days (but we have hairy dogs) and mop when I can be bothered.

I have 2 GSD's and a crawling baby so I need to sweep daily, I only mop tho when I really need to in the living room.

Phew. I'll be honest, I'm never going to win any good housekeeping awards, but I thought weekly was a good start. We don't have pets or small children at the moment though.

Suspect I'll sweep more often when my bump starts to crawl!

You could also go by how it looks. If it looks fluffy and dusty then sweep or mop it, if it looks fine then don't.Smile You're not preparing food on it or eating off it so it doesn't need to be all that clean. (Slatterns School of Housekeeping Rule 1)

Every day surely, especially if it's the kitchen.

My hoover broke the other week and I had to borrow a spare one from my mum which wasn't as good, man oh man what a nightmare.

I hoover daily and as in our new house we have a large tiled kitchen and a laminate hallway, I sweep daily too, unless I just hoover the whole lot. Sweeping oddly satisfying tho.

Mopped as needed ie 2-3-4 times per week. whenever I see any marks so that's pretty often (it's a silly pale creamy colour).

Sweep 3 times a day and mop kitchen floor every day, rest of house every other day. Hence why my steam mop was probably the best £80 I've ever spent!

I do have 4 DCs though, if I lived alone then probably about once a year Grin

About once a week - no pets, only one school age child ... should do it more often as kitchen is white ceramic tiles (not our choice Grin) - but life's too short.

Ok. So what I've learnt is that I'm slovenly, but my DH is even more so, right?!

God help us.

Never! I have laminate throughout downstairs and vac it everyday otherwise it's over run with dog hairs! We have a Henry Hoover which I find great for hard floors. Mop the kitchen and downstairs loo once a week but the living room much less, maybe monthly or more if the dog leaves foot prints.
