Roomba doesn't work on black carpets

I've just had my stairs and landing carpeted in black.
Roomba's cliff sensors think he's at the edge of a cliff and he won't vacuum. I've googled and have covered the sensors with strips of paper, and he's now merrily cleaning away.
However, I'm sitting at the top of the stairs in case he falls to his death. Grin

Don't leave him unattended. You don't want to be a murderer Grin

I won't let him die, I promise. I love him too much. Smile

But I've given up with the black carpet. He keeps stopping and playing random beep codes.

I'm taking him apart and cleaning him. Major surgery.

Probably not the best idea to set him loose on new carpet! But omg the dust he has lifted is hideous.

I can't imagine him being great on black anyway- they're good but wouldn't suckle new carpet like it needs!
