Removing gel stickers from dd's window?

butterflymeadow · 20/04/2013 14:59

For some time, dd has had gel stickers on her window, they are literally like jelly cubes in terms of consistency shaped like butterflies. They have over time melted in the sun and are beginning to slide down the glass -yuk.
I am trying to get them off and there is a sticky mess which normal window cleaner cannot remove. Does anyone know how to remove adhesive from glass?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Try rubbing it with mayonnaise. Worked on the stickers on my windows anyway.

WD40 should do the trick.

Nail varnish remover on a baby wipe. Did my Ds window today!

Many thanks, did think of WD40 but was not sure. Will try these suggestions tomorrow. The window is really a bit os a mess. In fact I shall probably just de-sticker it completely! Though that won't make me terribly popular.

A retractable razor is very good on hard smooth surfaces like windows. You can get a ceramic hob scraper, which is essentially a safety version of the same thing, or look for one at b&q. Ask for the sort of razors used by window cleaners.

I use one all the time when cleaning houses and it saves me a lot of time.

You can get a razor blade scraper thing from B&Q etc for getting paint splashes etc off glass (but might gunk up if residue is sticky) so probably use with WD40 or alcohol (isopropanol/white spirits/meths)

This happened in our kitchen and I used nail varnish remover; it was pretty quick!
