Smelly kitchen sink

Just a bit of a "whiff" coming from the kitchen sink. We are very careful about what goes down it due to antiquated and temperamental drains ,but obviously some food bits will find their way down there. Have never noticed this smell before, so just wondered if there were any recommendations as to what to put down to deal with smell/get rid of any small food particles that have got stuck? I tried neat bleach, but made no difference. I don't think I really expected it to, but it is all I have to hand.

Absolutely no indication of a blockage, water draining fine, it's just a lingering odour that is slightly off putting!

Mr muscle do a sink unbloker type thing thst you leave in while it fizzes gunk from the pipes then rinse with hot water.
We use it when our sink gets smelly and it sorts it.

Oh great, I will get one of those today. I've never used one before other than for a properly blocked bath one time, so didn't know if they would deal with general odours as well as the unblocking....

I use Busters kitchen sink unblocker, I get it from Morrisons but you can probably get it anywhere, it gets rid of the smell and it also dissolves the fat so everything washes away very quickly. However bear in mind if ANY water drips from the tap the kitchen smells like a science lab and you need a jumper round your face as a mask.

They also do a bathroom version which dissolves hair which is brilliant for when chewbacca OH has shaved and got it all stuck in the sink

FIL suggested caustic soda - mind you he is mad about very very strong abrasive cleaning products and I'd be worried that anything he suggests might just eat the whole blinking pipe away!!

MIL has tried quite hard to wean him off bleaching EVERYTHING in the house (and I mean everything) as the smell becomes overwhelming, and I am worried that caustic soda might fall into the same category! FIL would wash up with bleach if he could.

Mind you, MissFredi - possibly the Busters stuff is based on caustic soda in light of your description!

Have you got a plunger and some bleach?
Fill the sink with hot water, pull the plug and plunge, then throw some bleach down. We had a fishy smell coming from our brand new kitchen sink a couple of years ago and this totally worked

OO, I do have a plunger and bleach. I tried the bleach, but on its own, and it didn't really help and because it's not blocked I didn't even think about the plunger.
