I'm not a parent but I just made an account so I can say THANK YOU!!! to MissingMySleep above for the tip about how to get spin only. I've been trying to do this for ages and Google brought me to your post. You've made me love my washing machine again!!! grin

I've got a 7kg one I think. It's very good (and fairly quiet although it's upstairs in the cupboard so rumbles round a bit, I imagine if it was on a proper floor downstairs it would be much quieter. For spin only, turn it on and twist the spin speed knob on the right (don't touch anything else). It's got lots of wash options, I do almost all my washing on the 'cotton quick' cycle and it comes up just fine.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it does get a horrible build up of slimy ming inside where the powder drawer goes (I only put fabric conditioner in the drawer, not detergent) and occasionally clothes get these sort of grey track marks on them which only come off it you wash them again (the 30 min wash gets them out though). I can't work out why they get there so can't stop them, although it never occurred to me to speak to their customer services...

We have a 7kg one which must be about 10 years old now. It came with 5 years parts and labour as standard which was the big attraction as it was replacing an 18 month old Zanussi one which was uneconomic to repair. Its been very good. Something went wrong with it just before it was out of guarantee, and it was repaired no problem, our local shop we bought it from took it away and loaned us another one for a week or so whilst it was being fixed. It has a hard life with us, family of 4 plus is also used for washing some horse stuff.
I would buy another one, this one has been very good and washes well.

had mine for 8 years its fab

quieter cos of the direct drive

I think I have 7.5 or 8kg load, the large load makes a big difference to us, I do sooo much washing, prob 1-2 loads a day, my family are boggin!

when it gives up the ghost I will get another one the same its great

it has a spin only cycle but the instructions dont tell you how to access it - push the on button, then push the spin button and off you go - just dont touch the dial!

I have washed single items on the quick wash only problem I had was the bath mat. Machine had trouble going into the full spin with an unbalanced load but that's because the mat is quite heavy when wet.

"I have the 11kg version. If it had a spin only cycle and was able to wash small loads like it says it can it'd be great."

I have an LG washer-dryer. There are so many options you can choose it took me months to find the spin-only cycle. blush

Do you know if it can manage to wash a single item/new item alone on quick wash OOAOML?

OOAOML Mon 11-Feb-13 22:32:24

oops I was wrong it is 7kg. There is an extra rinse option seems to be available to most cycles.

napkin Mon 11-Feb-13 22:06:31

Is the rinse good on the 6kg model and can i add a extra rinse to every cycle? What's the model of the miele you went for Icelollycraving?

OOAOML Mon 11-Feb-13 16:49:00

I have a 6kg LG direct drive and really like it. Some washes take a while longer depending on load but the quick washes are great. Much quieter than my old Bosch.

I had an lg direct drive. Frankly I hated it,there is a common fault with mouldy scum building up in it. I had to bleach the door seal frequently. Their customer service was crap too.
Replaced with miele which I absolutely love.

I don't have much luck either e1y1. That's why i need the advice on a good one! grin

Does anyone know if the 6kg model has a extra rinse avaliable on all cycles and can you wash new items on their own on the quick wash option? Really need these 2 options that work well. smile

Floralnomad Sun 10-Feb-13 22:35:20

I have an 8 kg version and its brilliant and really quiet on the spin cycles .

redandwhitesprinkles Sun 10-Feb-13 22:32:32

I love my 9kg one

mellen Sun 10-Feb-13 22:11:37

I have a direct drive LG, and I'm really unhappy with it. It is actually the second one, because the first one was eventually replaced by after much hassle. I don't know how much longer my current one will last because it constantly seems on the verge of packing up - temperamental and noisy, and when it does I will not be replacing it with another LG.

timidviper Sun 10-Feb-13 22:05:38

I have a silver LG 7.5kg direct drive. Can't remember how old it is exactly but it is a good while (over 5 years) and it has been really good. Has dealt with lots of rugby kit and you don't get much muckier than that.

Ladyflip Sun 10-Feb-13 21:57:30

It's fab. Had mine 6 years, done 2 kids, 2 dogs, farmer DH (so real dirt to contend with) and I still love it. Wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

I have the 8kg silverversion and it is fantastic...., bought it in September to replace ailing zanussi and it looks good, isn't overly noisy and just gets on with it.....

Lepreporn Sun 10-Feb-13 13:29:46

I own one of those. I love it. Best washing machine ever. Need a get a life emotion smile

e1y1 Sun 10-Feb-13 13:25:57

It must be meant to be that you get it then grin. I suppose the not having the belt to drive it means it should last longer.

I dont have much luck with washing machines, eyes up the Hoover washer that I pushed out of the utility room into the garen in temper, as the drum cracked on it twice

napkin Sun 10-Feb-13 12:57:09

Yes that's the one i'm looking at. smile

e1y1 Sun 10-Feb-13 12:54:50

I don't, but thought I would put my twopenneth worths in grin

Not sure exactly which one you're looking at, but this Washer gets 96% excellent review.
