Hi all, After a pretty rough ride last year (2012) I think I feel ready to start again with babysteps
So who's with me for the journey?

Old and new steppers are welcome!

Lets do this one small step at a time!

BlackCatinChaos Thu 17-Jan-13 15:39:31

Sarah I agree with the others, you need to give yourself some rest. smile

Hope everyone else is o.k.

cats We are amber! Also waiting and seeing! No snow yet!

Ta das
An hour of work ( But I was out this morning)

Set off dishwasher
Dropped of box of books at post office - -sold to <excited>

Scout19075 Thu 17-Jan-13 16:15:49

My list for today:

SB & I up & dressed
keep SB fed & watered so far so good
shine sink
wash dishes, breakfast
wash dishes, lunch
wash dishes -- dinner
wash pots/pans
pack lunch/snacks for swimming
swimming and T-watching
hang wet swim gear
pack clothes for weekend
pack toys for weekend
pack toys/books for hospital and trip to Berks
load car as much as possible
Tesco (onion, celery, Vimto)
slow cooker prep
pound shop though they didn't have what I wanted
Boots (battery recycling)
post card to K&P (new baby)
check ebay & pay if needed YAY!
pack presents to take with us
pack up breakfast, snacks and lunch for tomorrow
wash up slow cooker when cooled
recycling to bin
plan Friday's To Do/plan of attack
plan weekend projects for away

Something's not right with SB -- he's been a bear today and uncharacteristicly aggressive. I won't do any packing or any more flying (I'd like to do some flinging if I can) until he's in bed because right now I'm trying to keep SB on an even keel.

Struggling to focus!

TheOneWithTheHair Thu 17-Jan-13 16:22:23

We are on amber too but I'll believe it when I see it! We are in this little spot where everyone around us gets snow but we get endless drizzle. It's rubbish!

Today's Tadas

Up and dressed
Breakfast for dcs
Beds made
Washing up x 1
WM on
TD on
Clothes folded and put away
Kitchen wiped down
Hall and kitchen swept
Ds2's bedroom tidied
All bedrooms,landing and stairs vacuumed

To do

Make dinner
Wash up x2
Shine sink
Bath dcs
Dc's story
Collapse in a heap

I'm loving my tidy house though. I made a start in the bathroom yesterday and I didn't feel bad for not finishing. This is a massive deal for me. Also I have found myself doing more tidying as I've gone along and it really, really helps. I hardly notice I'm doing it.

It seems to have been a change in my mental attitude I think and although it feels like I'm doing a lot less, I'm actually accomplishing more. I hope that makes sense.

TheOneWithTheHair Thu 17-Jan-13 16:24:58

I hope it's not a sign of illness Scout and that SB is more himself tomorrow. That's an impressive list though.

Scout19075 Thu 17-Jan-13 16:33:23

Thanks, The One, I hope not, too. Unfortunately I fear it may be the start of something (it's usually a sign). Tomorrow it's a busy day, though, so hope he's okay -- hospital appointment (for me), bus from the hospital to the train station, train to London, Tube across London, train to the west. SB has been so excited about the adventure. We bought the tickets yesterday and the man behind the counter gave SB his own ticket (blank) even though he doesn't need a ticket yet (he's 3.2).

educatingarti Thu 17-Jan-13 16:40:56

arti I'm south Manchester. How did you guess?!? grin

educatingarti Thu 17-Jan-13 18:27:01

You said you were on an amber warning but often just got drizzle which sounded like me. Your profile said "Manchesterish"

<Polishes private investigator's badge>

TheOneWithTheHair Thu 17-Jan-13 18:45:30

Wow. You got me! grin

It is now actually snowing just to prove me wrong!. shock

educatingarti Thu 17-Jan-13 18:48:01

Snowing here too!

Just off to work in it! hmm

TheOneWithTheHair Thu 17-Jan-13 18:48:13

And dh said we're SW Manchester so probably closer than I thought.

Scout19075 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:24:08

We don't have any snow -- yet--. The way all of MN is panicking I'm starting to wonder if my trip tomorrow is a silly idea. I should preface this with I'm from the Northeast USA so used to blizzards and was living in Minnesota (northern central USA for those that don't know US geography) when I met MrScout. I can handle feet of the white stuff and not blink. But people here get silly about (and in!) snow so I tend to stay in if I think other people are out.

HellesBelles396 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:40:51

aibu or lazy if I take the plastic pots from camp to dm's for a run through the dishwasher? she says it's fine but I feel a bit guilty about it as if I should wash them all by hand.

Scout19075 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:51:53

Helles, as someone who has done 30 years in the movement and countless camps (weekends and full-weeks) -- USE THE DISHWASHER!

Scout19075 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:53:12

Sorry, Helles, I meant to add: grin and DON'T feel guilty. It's called Using your resources wisely (part of the Girl Scout Law). wink

HellesBelles396 Thu 17-Jan-13 20:00:50

thank you scout! will pile them in a bag and drop them at dm's in the morning.

Scout19075 Thu 17-Jan-13 20:19:44

grin at Helles.

I've topped up the diaper bag and more-or-less packed up the books, etc., I want to take away with me. Now off to do SB's toy bag then clothes.

bessie26 Thu 17-Jan-13 22:16:12

sarah I get very little flying done on work days too & I'm not even busy growing a baby!! grin

Hope the hospital trip goes ok tomorrow scout

today I have:
- gone to work
- got home in time for bedtime stories
- got my work laptop partially working at home
- done online shop

I'm experimenting with twice-weekly supermarket deliveries (I've paid upfront for 3months, so figure I may as well make the most of it!) - seems to be working well atm as I don't have to arrange the meal plan for the whole week to take into account of how perishable the items are.

Our snow forecast keeps changing so have stopped looking at anything beyond a few hours. The girls have a hairdressers apt at 9am tomorrow morning so am hoping the roads will be ok for that, but I am more concerned about saturday. The DDs have swimming lessons somewhere quite remote at 9am & 10am. Then in the evening DH has to drive somewhere else that is quite remote to play a gig & won't be driving home until 1am sunday morning.

I still have a sore throat & stuffy nose - I think DD2 might have it too as she was up at 5am & a dose of calpol (DH assumed it was teeth) made her instantly better - for about an hour when she started crying again.

Had better go to bed incase she does it again tonight!

AdoraBell Thu 17-Jan-13 22:40:14

Holiday is booked and paid for grin

Ended up spending the afternoon out, after returning home to unleash the beasts, deal with DW and put a wash on. Bought DDs some appropriate clothes for our trip, essentially we shopped and then dropped. Back home now and DDs are cooling off in the pool, I don't know where they get the energy!

Helles I'm glad you're keeping food down, and yes you should use the DW.

Cats, hope you, and DM, are doing okay.

Scout hope SB is okay tomorrow and your trip goes well.

Bessie hope both you and DD get a good night's sleep

I need to do dinner and make sure the passports are where I think they are.

<leaves fresh tea/coffee and banana loaf for brekkies>

HellesBelles396 Fri 18-Jan-13 06:24:14
