Oven cleaning - do I get the Oven Pride out or fork out £65 for someone to come in?

Really tempted with the cleaning service - oven is disgusting - but is it worth it?

IMO it is definitely worth it.

I had mine done in August because it was disgusting as I never had the energy to give it the really good clean with Oven Pride that it needed. Since I had it done I have made myself clean it every week or so, but because it's only slightly dirty it's a really quick 5 minute job instead of the horrid slog it used to be when I did it every year couple of months. It's still sparkling Smile

Yeah - mine gets an annual clean too (if it's lucky!) Parents are coming for Christmas and don't want them to be shocked at state of oven..

Oven pride worked wonders on my black oven shelves! :)
24h in the goop and they were sparkling stainless steel again!!!

No effort required! Grin

Blimey, I really could've justify paying that.
As just said Oven Pride is blooming marvellous.
I find it is cheapest in one of the cheap shops like Home bargains.

Why don't you use Oven Pride and then treat yourself to something nice with your savings?

I have to say I have had a box of oven pride for 2 weeks now, next to the cooker. So it's looking at me every time I go into the kitchen and it's still hasn't cleaned my oven Grin. I think I may be doing something wrong.

Is Oven Pride any good on cookers with the heating elements at the bottom? I'm sure I saw in my oven booklet that I haven't seen for years that you had to be careful how you cleaned it. Hmm

But then I think the same for Ovenu - do they clean absolutely all types of cookers?

I've got Ovenu coming out tomorrow. When it comes to it the Oven Pride is fantastic and I've used it before with brilliant results but its pretty nasty stuff and I never have time when the Boy is out of the way so DH decided to get them in to get it sparkling again. Suits me.

still can't decide..but the thought of not having to scoop the gloop out of the oven after it's done its stuff is starting to appeal..

I always put foil on the bottom of my oven. Never have any trouble getting all that black shit off now.

Are you supposed to clean the sides as well?

Pay the man.

Just do it.

Tell me where you live. It's anywhere close to me I'll come and do it with Oven Pride and I'll take a fiver off what they are charging.

As long as someone clarifies about cleaning the sides.

I clean mine with fairy power spray. Am asthmatic and oven pride does my chest in.
My dp got the fairy as they used it at work to clean some seriously dirty shelving(supermarket something had been spilled and not reported or cleaned). It does a marvelous job and although it needs some elbow grease and metal scourers it isn't as nasty as other cleaners.

Pay the man. I love the man from Ovenu.

Hulababy · 29/11/2012 18:09

Pay for someone to do it.

Oven Pride didn't really make mine any cleaner. It wasn't really bad in first place but the Oven cleaning person had it sparkling.

I've seen deals on Groupon before now for oven cleaning services - might be worh keeping an eye on your local area site Grin

My oven is disgusting but my excuse is that I can't get the door open far enough to get the shelves out (weird shaped kitchen) and its a hideous lovely 80s style one with flowers on the doors and shit. I refuse to replace it until we get the kitchen done! but now I feel guilty and a slattern and will be dashing out to buy super super oven cleaner
