Looking for bedlinen for DD2

Help!

I'm looking to buy a bedlinen set or even just a single duvet cover for DD2. She's 3.5 but I would like it to last so nothing too babyish.

Her room is white walls with white furniture and some splashes of colour in bright red, terracota, orange etc.
There are some of those Djeco stickers on the wall (the tree and some birds and flowers): www.idreamelephants.com/djeco-wallstickers-owls-and-butterflies.ir?cName=gifts-stickers-wallstickers
This blind: lepetitcoquin.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/000021489.jpg?w=500
There is a stripy multicoloured IKEA rug similar to this: www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20199132/

There isn't much that is pastel or pink in there. You get the idea!

So I'm looking for something that is:

  • not pink or pastel
  • probably not primary colours either
  • not too girly (no princesses, fairies etc). I could probably put up with butterflies if they were bright colours
  • not specifically boyish either! (e.g. just blue or pirates). I was tempted by a nice space theme one I saw though.
  • no characters (especially no Disney, Peppa Pig etc)

Here is a list of ones that I thought were ok in case that helps:

www.next.co.uk/g482704s2 (for some reason that's in the boy section but I think it's quite gender neutral. Her room might be a bit too much like walking through a twee forest what with the wall stickers/blind etc)

www.johnlewis.com/246691/Product.aspx (I love the colours and the elephants but it's maybe a bit busy? It's a very small room)

www.johnlewis.com/246689/Product.aspx (a little bit too flowery for me)

www.notonthehighstreet.com/sweethomelondon/product/butterfly_pillowcase (this one is ok but not that inspiring)

Or just something in bright stripes (e.g. orange, dark pink, red, purple)

Can anyone help? Please?

Luma (www.lumadirect.com) have pretty children's bedlinen, they have a white set with embroidered dots in bright colours that is in the sale at the moment. Its organic cotton and only embroidered at the edges so not too overwhelming.

This is lovely HellyMelly. I'd be tempted to get it for us! Their other ranges are nice as well: "Flutters and Flowers" and "Bugs and Leaves"

Any other ideas?

Ikea for lovely non-gender specific colourful but not too colourful designs. They do a fab owls one, and I'm planning to get the delightful vegetable garden one for dd.

Plain white is a brave choice, but it can feel very special, and of course it will go with anything, and help her room look bigger.

You could go for a plain colour

I got this one for my daughter, and it's lovely

this is bolder

Thank you WonkyLegs, I hadn't thought of Debenhams!

I like most of those (except for the cats, I should have said no cats! I'm not a cat person...)

Probably Woodland Friends and the two stripey ones the most (even though they are quite different...)

I also found these:
www.next.co.uk/g482700s3 (maybe a bit too pinky?)

Right going to bed and will check again tomorrow!

Oh more responses! Thank you all!

I did look at IKEA but was a bit worried that they are not standard sizes? So was going to measure our duvets and see. Thanks for reminding me.

I quite like this one from Designer's Guild

Edgar <a class="break-all" href="http://www.dunelm-mill.com/shop/green-naya-collection-duvet-cover-set-167680?utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_content=www.mumsnet.com&utm_campaign=78888&cm_mmc=awin--Sub+Networks--78888_Skimbit_www.mumsnet.com-_-www.awin1.com/tclick.php?mid=3769&id=78888&awc=3769_1352242611_14216e554f97807a0429e13a8bed875c" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">This would go really well in her room!

I'll check out the Verbaudet tomorrow, they look promising.

colditz Oh ok, I don't know where I heard that they might be different. Maybe I'm thinking of their kitchen units or something!

Ruprekt Thanks for the Verbaudet link I found two promising ones:
Nice and bright
pretty and not too busy. One of my favourites so far!

Agree with Colditz :-)
My kids have lovely duvet covers from Ikea, they have loads of cute non-pink designs and are good value for 100% cotton.

butterflies that may be a bit old for her

CantStopEatingCheese · 07/11/2012 11:08

edgar I like the trees one the most from this selection!

dizzyday07 I quite like the owl one, it's not too blue, the butterfly one might be a bit too old for her (but I'd like it for us!)

Thank you all, I have loads of choice now, I knew I could rely on Mumsnet! I might end up getting one set for each DD!

Try the kids stuff here. There are some beautiful designs, for bedding for girl's and boys. Just got my twin nephews some of the blue (non team specific) football duvet covers and they love them. Noticed some very pretty duvet cover sets for girls as well. //Homespacedirect.com

I get the Ikea ones because they are pure cotton. They fit fine!
