How many sets of bedding is it reasonable to have per bed?

and how many towels per person? I need to replace our bedding box, and reckon I could get away with buying something a bit smaller, but only if I have a good cull.

I guess it depends how often you run the washing machine, but I find 2 sets for each bed works fine, when I strip it I wash that set and put the clean set on so I don't need any more.

And I do the same with towels - one per person per bathroom, plus hand towels.

how often do you have multiple lots of people to stay? eg, do you have 3 different lots of family to stay over Christmas and NY? so you'd need 3 lots of clean bedlinen - if you did no washing.

If the answer is not often, then 2 sets per bed is absolutely fine - in fact when the weather is good Icould get away with one as I wash, dry and put back on the bed the same day.

If you often have guests, one or 2 extra sets is useful, so you don't have the panic of trying to get bedding washed for the next set of guests. Also, consider whether you have bedwetting children - extra sets (opr at least bottom sheet and mattress protector are useful then.

Bedding - 2 sets per bed

Towels - depends if you have a teenage son that will have a shower, use a towel, go to the gym, takes a towel for his shower after workout, comes home, has another shower before work, yet another towel and then has another shower after work Hmm

Sometimes I long for the days when I couldnt get him in the shower! not really,

By the way he goes to the gym 3 or 4 times a week!

But he does do his own washing, it just really annoys me that he needs a clean towel every time.

DD and I get by with 1 towel each every 2 days, and shower daily

yes, i suspected we have too many....i think we have 3 sets, and overnight visitors are few and far between as we've no spare room other than the sitting room floor Grin
we need to ditch some shabby towels as well, i think. Does two per person, plus hand towels, plus swim/beach towels sound about right?

We have two sets per bed plus extra sheets, pillowcases and odd duvet covers for the kids beds for if they are sick and need multiple changes. Have piles of towels, don't know how many, at a guess maybe 12 very large, 4-5 medium and about 10 handtowels? We are a family of 6.

I'd say two, so that you're not under pressure to get things dry in wet weather etc.

I used to be a bedding maniac - buying in the sales whether needed or not. These days I manage with 2 sets per bed lies, has 3 for own bed
Towels one per person plus hand towels. DS has own towels as he is similar to Mrs Presley's DS though not as badSmile
