I am crap at choosing hoovers. We had a vax but It's the worst one I've bought to date.
We have laminate in half of the rooms and carpet in the others. We have a big shaggy rug on the living room. I moult hair badly and we also have a short haired cat.
So I'm thinking we need a pet specific one? (for me and the cat!)
It would be helpful if I could so our sofas too with it.
What do I need to look out for? Good suction? What specifics are good? I have £80 to spend maximum although closer to £60 would be better. I know It's not much money, so does anyone know of any that are on offer?
Please help as I'm having to borrow ny moms every week at the moment!

Builders use them to suck up grit and bits of plaster. They're not fancy though. I use it because I've an open fire, 3 cats and a hairy dog.

I've just ordered a Dyson - sorry it's not cheap.

We have a Henry and we borrowed a Dyson for a trial and it's knocked spots off Henry, which after 5 years is struggling. I find Henry really heavy now, and I don't think I particularly feeble.

But we have a long haired dog so we do a lot of vacuuming, and we have a big challenge keeping carpets clean.

I've been through Dyson, Miele Cat and Dog and am now on a Henry. The Dyson was shite (DP's contribution to our shared appliance collection when we set up home together, he always was a bit of a brand whore). The Miele was and indeed still is quite good, but we've got two houses sort of joined together and I was getting fed up of carting the hoover from one to the other so picked up Henry. Henry is just as good as the Miele and cost approx £130 less.
I do wish I'd spent a very few quid more and got James, which is identical to Henry but green instead of red and has a handy storage unit built in for the crevice tools etc. As it is I haven't a clue where one is.
