Just broke the corner of my lovely induction hob. Sad :(

I love my hob, Tis 18 months old. A bottle of Tabasco sauce leapt out of the cupboard and crashed into the corner of the hob. It's now got a couple of big chips and the corner has cracked off.
Is there anything I can do? Can I make it look better or is there a professional service that'll do it? I can glue the corner back on but it would still look broken.

:(

Hello kitten.

I'm interested in this too. It wasn't Tabasco in my case but my grumpy DP who was all moody about having to wipe down the surfaces properly and bashed a fruit bowl into it and also chipped it. It's on the side and underneath so hasn't really caused a problem so far. I was considering a home insurance claim but as it seems to be working fine I've left it.

I am interested in this because there may be a way to fix it so am marking my place.

Do you think the chip will affect how it works? Fingers crossed that someone has a good solution.

Also watching with interest due to similar damage here!

It seems to be working ok, but it's got a crack that I think will propagate. I've decided not to do anything in a panic but review the situation on Monday.

Hopefully someone will help us both with a good solution. I do know I must tidy out the cupboard lots of its contents are rather kamikaze.

I dropped a heavy pan on my ceramic hob and smashed it. A hole and two huge cracks. One hotpate was undamaged so I used that but my electrican mate told me not to as it may be dangerous.
Anyway he advised me to claim on my insurance which I did.
It took one phonecall and the money was in the bank 4 days later.

We had a jug jump out of the cupboard and chip the side of the hob. Then a few months later, dh was mashing the tatties and the whole thing cracked clean in two.

I claimed it off the insurance, no hassles.

And then I rearranged the cupboards so that there was nothing heavy above it!

So insurance is the answer? Jolly good. We've only claimed once when a big wind rearranged our roof tiles.
