Tips for getting the smell of human urine out of carpets

Due to an elderly relative having an accident, there is a lot of urine in our bedroom carpet (and I mean night-time concentrated wee - and a lot of it).

We have tried things with bicarbonate of soda and a white vinegar solution but the stench is still horrendous. Would a cleaning company be able to get rid of it? The carpet was brand new three months ago so we really don't want to have to get a new one Sad Any tips gratefully received.

My MIL had an accident a few days ago on one of the sofas.

I used bio washing powder,(mixed with biotex/water).In a thick watery paste
I fully covered area and left it for a few hours to soak in, then washed off.
( be careful, test an area of carpet you can't see first to make sure it won't make the carpet lighter.)
In my case it was fine, the sofa cushion/feathers are not fully dry yet after 3 days!! ( but there's no smell now. Smile

You would need to colour patch test as its a carpet, but this has worked om a mattress for us & brought it up like new.

Soak the whole think in Hydrogen Peroxide

Sprinkle liberally with bicarb of soda

leave over night - bicarb soaks up the peroxide & with it the wee & smell

hoover thoroughly

I would sprinkle on bio washing powder, leave and hoover off.
if that doesn't work it's off to the pet section of the supermarket for special pet odour enzyme cleaner.

If it has been a lot of urine the problem is probably that it has soaked into the underlay and is trapped festering in that.

On how clean is your house they has this issue in a house where the animals had just been left to wee everywhere, and they said that you need to lift the carpet and cut out the affected underlay, and replace it. You can buy small off cuts in a carpet shop. The carpet itself will come up clean and fragrance free using the tips above, but you can't clean the underlay.

Even I can imagine the smell of this... One day my cat did it and I was shocked, I couldn't even breath... Disgusting smell...So I used vinegar to clean it off... But it was unsuccesfully. I googled all sites and have found this one deevora.com - the list of the best cleaner, I bought this one and it really helps me.

To prevent urine spillage though the gap under the toilet seat there are several gadgets including ours the UStop Pee Stopper.
