Tile floors - where to get rugs please?

Our new house (which we're signing for on Tuesday -eek!) has tiled floors downstairs and wooden floors upstairs. I think we're going to need a lot of rugs.

Where would you look to buy them? I'd like them to be simple, warm and not very expensive if possible. I don't really mind if they're second hand if there's a way I can give them a clean.

Any ideas please? Thanks! :)

Ebay and hire a vax. Rubbery anti-silp under mat things would be essential.

Great thanks, I'll have a look on there.

Erm, what is a vax? Is it a carpet cleaner?

Yup, looks like a hoover but washes.

I needed an odd size rug and found out that carpet / carpet offcuts can be bound. Cost me about £50 for a roughly 3m square carpet to be bound (carpet cost a few hundred though, but I had to fall in love with the most expensive one in the shop!). Just in case that helps!

Super, thanks everyone, I'll start looking on ebay. I think my parents have some sort of carpet cleaner thing so hopefully I won't even need to hire one :)

You could also try plantation rugs (online site) - not sure of web address as am on phone. Local independent carpet shops normally have some small remnants that they could get 'whipped' up.
