Feeling a bit like a failure today! I struggle with the every day stuff like keeping up with washing up, and laundry. Not brilliant at cooking either!Sad

I have been trying to do the baby steps for FlyLady but not sure It's working for me although some days I do the timer thing and that helps.
I have a toddler and an older dc, Not blaming them for the mess, I just find it all hard some days.

Same here.

Feel like I have done the necessary then realise I have forgotten something.

My general aims are to:

keep bathroom clean,
hoover downstairs regularly,
keep laundry mountain to more of a hill size,
wash up daily.

Am feeling a bit rough today due to a cold so have done nothing much.

I have four dcs and find it hard to keep on top everyday.

hello whyme2, It must be even harder with four dc.
When our kitchen gets really bad (like today) dh does some of the washing up.
I'm glad of the help but it also makes me feel like more of a failure.
I have a laundry mountain but am trying to do a bit more often. The rainy weather doesn't help cause then you have to dry it indoors and I don't like wet washing in the house.

well its lovely and sunny here in the SE so i've got a wash out and another one on. Is it dry where u are ?

Don't take on too much if you really can't manage it, you'll give up too easily.

Small baby steps. we'll have your house sparkling Wink

Hi all, I have now got dressed and put one load of washing on, It will have to dry on the airer indoors today as it is still rainy (I'm in North west). Rains quite often here lately. I think I will make my next job "dust the fireplace" as dh is busy sorting the kitchen.( He is good).
Back later.

I've bleached the kitchen sides so I think I've done ok so far I have

Stripped the master bed
made the childrens bed
hoovered downstairs
mopped kitchen floor, toilet floor and downstairs laminate
hung washing out
put another load on including piss mat in toilet
Wiped light switches round the house
polished living room
loaded dishwasher
bleached kitchen sides
Put pile of washing away thats been sitting there for a week

all thats left to do is the ironing, if my saturday gal pal comes round today I will do it while we chat, if she doesnt I will leave it until tomorrow.

I think i'm done for the moment. Its amazing what you get done when you give yourself small jobs, then rest then another couple of small jobs then rest.

good luck ladies. I will keep checking in to see how you are all getting on.

Have dusted Fireplace and moved all junk that seems to gather on there. that looks better.
shinyshoes1 You have quite a big list for a Saturday. Do you work during the week?
I don't work apart from at home. I suppose that's why I feel I should be better a housework than I am. I know from when I used to work I used to fit in a lot of housework on my days off.(Before dc)
Anyway I am stopping for a late lunch break now.

I'm a bit slack too. I just did a huge clean yesterday and am determined to keep on top of it now.

The things I find that help on a day to day basis is

Do a laundry load first thing in the morning. As early as possible. If it helps, load machine night before. Only do one a day unless its a nice day outside.

During the week, try to do one pot dinners. Casseroles, stir frys or dishes in the oven with marinated meat or fish and veg etc. BBCgoodfood is a great website for getting quick, easy and tasty recipes.

Try to clean the kitchen and living room every night before bed. Get dh to help.
Life is so much easier when you start the day with a fairly tidy house.

I did cleaning yesterday and then it just gets messy again. Have washing out but it means loads of ironing.

managed to put a duvet in a vaccuum bag and into a cupboard. it had sat in a black bag on the landing for 1 week. I also cleaned the fridge out and went shopping.

I just feel so tired now.

My teens have stripped their beds and my sheets are changed. it is never ending isn't it.

Gosh - you have all been so busy - I went out with the dc's instead of doing anything Blush

Not long been back and I have washed up lunch things and put potatoes in the oven for dinner.

I must iron later as dh has no shirts now and he is working at 11pm tonight.

I am in the north west and it is wet wet wet today. Luckily I have a tumble dryer.
I do try and tidy a little at night just before I go up to bed - collect any stray cups, rubbish, lost articles of clothing. Also on school nights I return reading books and school shoes to the hallway which all helps.

Just remember I have one of the dc's beds to make up after a night time wee they had.
