Sorry if this isnt the right forum, but wasn't sure which one to post it on.

My friend goes into hospital next week for an op, she'll only be in that day. I want to send her some 'get well soon' flowers, which suppliers have you used and been happy with? I'll end up using inter flora and I'm never ever overly happy with them...

My aunt sent me marks and Spencer flowers after DD was born and I was v impressed. It was actually a plant thingy, but it wasn't meant to live for ages, just a couple of weeks. (and it came with chocolates & wine which was a bonus).

I've used next flowers before for my mum and have always been really happy with what they've sent, they usually come with a vase and they last for ages too!

I use Scilly flowers as they are UK based and need the support. plus the flowers are gorgeous and the service wonderful

Freesia.co.uk does gorgeous bunches of (obv ) sweet scented freesias at great value. If you want to splash out though, the bouquets from crocus.co.uk are fabulous, start at about £40.

I recently used m&s, but wasn't impressed - the flower were well past their peak and quite expensive. ( I did complain and received a refund and another bunch, so I can't fault their customer service).

I have received flowers from flowersbypost.com which were lovely. And good value too - they sent a price list with the flowers

Bunches.co.uk are good, they are more flowers by mail than interflora courier delivery but they are VERY reasonable and good quality

I generally use www.flyingflowers.co.uk. They are pretty good and not as expensive and interflora.

I always use Bunches. I send flowers around 5-8 times a year and who ever I send them to has said how lovely they are.

And I always go through Topcashkack to get a little back.

Not sure what you're thinking, but please make sure the hospital will let them be delivered - some so have policies against that sort of thing - unless you meant to send them to her house - in which case I have nothing to add.

I've had good results with M&S and Bunches. The best results I find are normally achieved if you call a local florist (yellow pages or google) to the destination you are sending them and ask them to do it. It's normally much better value than Interflora.

We used to do it at school to say thank you if someone's parents had taken a group of us out for dinner and the lovely florist always used to give us a few extra roses that had already opened because she was so impressed with our manners! If you ask the florist to do a card they might be having a nice day and bulk your order out a bit. Either way, I prefer it to going online.

Interflora are rubbish in my experience, I have ordered flowers from Moonpig.com and they have always been great and not too pricey.

My Mum has received quite a few bunches of flowers recently. SHe tells me that M&S are a bit hit and miss. They are either really nice or really past it. She sends flowers from Next.

I'm a florist and have previously worked in an Interflora shop.

I suggest you avoid Interflora and all of the relay companies like the plague! Each Interflora item has a recipe (i.e. 3 roses, 3 gerberas, 2 xant, eucalyptus and salal up to retail value of £1.40, etc. etc.). You then make the recipe to look like the Interflora picture. Except... with some of the designs it is nigh on impossible to make it look as good as the picture with the ingredients. They photograph everything in such a way (and probably retouch the photos) to make the design much fuller. Every now and again I would add extra items in but the margins are so tight that you're on a hiding to nothing.

You're best bet is to go onto Google Maps. Type in your postcode and search for florists nearby with a decent website. You will get far more for your money and the florist will probably add more flowers as they are wanting to turn their stock quickly.

On a final note, check that the hospital will accept flowers. A lot don't these days!

I echo Scilly Flowers! UK grown, small business, excellent customer service and v good value. They send beautiful flowers that go through the post. Brilliant.

Just sent my mum some from Bloom and Wild - www.bloomandwild.com/ . She says they are lovely.
I sent her a Wiggly one a few years ago which was expensive and did not have many flowers, lots of foliage.
