Can you recommend a carpet retailer in SE London/NW Kent?

Several of the ones thrown up by Yellow Pages turn out to be slightly dodgy-looking discount places. We have a CarpetRight close by but I wasn't overly impressed. Hoping to find a decent quality (but not too expensive - no point with young children!) localish independent retailer where the stuff hasn't fallen off the back of a lorry.

Thanks!

Where are you? (you can PM) We used a carpet retailer in Beckenham - a great range, friendly and free measuring service.

There's a great little shop in beckenham....it does real wood, laminate and carpet. They supplied our kitchen floor.
I can't remember the name so will have a look for you!
There is also a good carpet shop in forest hill although I haven't used it and don't know the name.
Wow what a helpful post from me Hmm

This any good? Very popular local company, with a huge range and very helpful.

That's the one we used - floor studio!

Thank you. I'm in the Greenwich/Blackheath area. I'm going to a carpet shop in Forest Hill later this week (recommended offline) - hope it's the same one! Also went to the carpet shop in Lordship Lane, Dulwich, yesterday as I was over that way to meet a friend. That also seemed pretty good. Always good to have a look around at a couple of others before making any decisions though! Beckenham's a bit further to go on a weekday (time limited by nursery pick-up/drop-off and toddler patience in general) but maybe that's a weekend trip if we can combine it with something else (swimming?!). It took me nearly an hour to get home from the Horniman Museum after the carpet shop yesterday and DD was a bit fractious. You look at an A-Z and think everything's so close but then you need to factor in driving speeds of

If the carpet shop in Forest Hill is EJ Carpets, I couldn't recommend them highly enough. Very quick fitting, great service.

Another vote for floorstudio in Beckenham. Not carpet I know but oak flooring. They have just fitted over 1000sqft of oak flooring for me in my kitchen diner and hall.

Absolutely beautiful!! Amazing job done and quick too. Price not bad considering.

Their had a really big range of carpets and other products in their shop.

Fitters were really professional and left things tidy each night.

Can't recommend enough.

Brittles in Welling & Bexleyheath are a decent company, Welling High Street has two other independent carpet shops (and a carpet right) (and free parking if you go into the Tesco).

Bit surprised to see this thread suddenly come to life again 2.5years later. I'm sure the poster isn't really after a bit of free advertising, even if it does look like that Hmm.

FWIW if anyone finds this, we used Lordship Lane Carpets in E Dulwich (now also in Blackheath, as Lordship Carpets) and can thoroughly recommend them. Really nice guys, polite, professional, great communications, accommodating of nursery days/hours, did a great job and cleared up thoroughly - and were especially mindful of a toddler in the house, which was appreciated.

Many thanks for this recommendation Wingdingdong! We're also in Blackheath and in need of a good carpet supplier since last lot got chucked out with the rest of the house when we pulled it down!!! Good to know the local supplier is highly recommended.
