Please help resolve this debate about sweeping up And hoovering food

Dh thinks it's fine to sweep up food from the floor with a broom, regardless of whether it's moist food or fruit or the like which ds has chucked on the floor

I think the broom will get manky and full of bacteria so I go at such stuff with kitchen towel and antibacterial spray and keep the broom for 'dry' stuff

Also today dh suggested hoovering up the bits of apple ds has spat out, but I said the apple would rot inside the Hoover and we should pick it up and bin it

Who's right??

You are muslimah!! Soggy food will clog the vacuum cleaner and make the broom manky. Kitchen towel is the best thing and use the broom/vacuum for crumbs and other dry debris. My DH has today used by Dyson to vacuum up plaster that he has been sanding down and some of this got wet and has clogged it all up. Have spent most of this evening taking vacuum to pieces, washing filters, etc, etc. Not happy :(

The exclamation marks were to reinforce the fact that you are right and not your DH. :) Dyson and filters are out in the full sun drying (thank goodness it's not raining today).
