What's wrong with my freezer?

Hi

After advice please. I have a Bosch fridge freezer which is about 4 years old. It is a type that doesn't need defrosting and has no ice in it at all. However, some things - like ice cream - does not freeze. Meat freezes solid (although I always have it in the back of my mind that it might not have been as frozen as it could be if milky products don't freeze). I have had it set to -21 for the past month and still my ds minimilks (and various other ice creams / lollies) do not set. They are not just soft they are inedible as they are too soft and I am worried if it hasn't been frozen it will be off.

What on earth can be wrong with it? Why do some things freeze solid and others don't? Do I need to get a thermometre to check what the temperature really is in there?

Any ideas anyone? I'm stumped (I don't know anything about freezers really!) Thanks in advance for any ideas

id get a thermometer

it sounds like it isnt cold enough and if it isnt -18C or colder then stuff will not last for as long as it should.

If the temp was -18C then i cant see how ice cream would not be hard (like it should be)

was going to suggest thermometer too. I have just bought one for £3 and discovered that my fridge was too cold. I'd defrosted my freezer too and saw that the ice cream cornettos i'd bought were not as hard as I would have liked on the first day of putting them in. Now the fridge has been turned up, they are ok and none of us have died of food poisoning.

We could do a test if you like, with some ice bags making ice. See how long it takes to freeze them? or is that going a bit too much into it

Thanks. Off to look for a thermometer then. I have to admit, although the meat has seemed to be rock solid I have been eating it in a matter or days rather than stock up!
