Is my gravel chavvy?

We have an area of about 8ft x 6ft behind the garage which is due to be gravelled tomorrow. I've ordered dark pink gravel, which I thought would be pretty, but DP thinks it might look very chavvy.

Opinions please! Thanks. :)

Ermmmm, it wouldn't be my first choice but as it's being gravelled tomorrow you have to stand by your convictions Grin

At least it won't be dull!
No flippin help at all, sorry.

Cor another thread.
You're really doubting yourself about this gravel now aren't you?

I think I may have time to change it if I call the guy who's bringing it early enough.

We're doing the house up to sell it, so need it to look ok not awful - eek!

Hope the gravel isn't too fine/small or the neighbourhood cats will think you've built them a new public loo.

Thanks doozle! :) My cats aren't interested in gravel, fortunately!

I have white gravel in my teensy front garden and when the sun reflects off it I am blind for days afterwards, it's so bright

I dont think I've ever seen pink gravel ......

I aim to please ;-)

But seriously, I think those rusty pink tones can look great in gardens.

The first thing that sprang to mind for me was......fishtank!

If you are doing the house up to sell go for grey or beige - unless your target market is Barbara Cartland or Jordan.

It's easy enough to change gravel but you have to appeal to the masses, they might not share your (impeccable)taste.

Where I'm from lots of people have Balmullo chips in their garden/on their driveway.

This is making me feel homesick.

Btw, they're lovely - not chavvy at all!

Gravel should only be the natural type such as you find on beaches, imvho.

Anything else including slate chips (ARE YOU LISTENING ALL YOU PONCEY FRONT GARDEN SLATE-CHIPPERS WHO LIVE ROUND MY WAY?) is deeply chavvy. Imho.

What's the protocol if you life miles from a beach, but near a slate quarry, huh, bibblty?

Good grief, I only wandered on here cos I've thrown my four penneth into almost every thread on AIBU.....and now I have to try and cope with the knowledge that gravel can be 'Chavvy' and there are such things as 'Gravel Snobs'.....

FWIW, gravel snobs or not, I am Welsh and I think you can't beat a bit of slate gravel! But now I discover it's deeply chavvy.....I must retire to bed with a heavy heart and my taste in small, decorative house rocks admonished.

Bibbity my DH is from Glasgow.
Should we have potato chips?
Potatoes are natural.
And everything in Glasgow is deep-fried.
Allegedly Grin
