If you've ever lost your wedding and engagement rings, where did you find them?

I have lost mine. They went astray sometime between Thursday afternoon and Friday mid-morning and it's possible I could have lost them while out and about - I've lost weight and they were loose. But I think it's most likely I put them down somewhere at home while cleaning/tidying. Unfortunately after the kids were in bed on Thursday I had a massive tidying and sorting session and can't stop thinking that they must be in the charity bag/the cupboard under the stairs/in a toy box/inside my rubber gloves etc. But I have looked in all those places and literally cannot think where else to look. So inspire me - where else might they be? (And please don't tell me I'm ridiculous for posting this, I know it's clutching at straws but I'm kicking myself and feeling fragile - while constantly reminding myself they don't matter at all in the grand scheme of things.)

Rings often fall off when you are walking up stairs, it's the position of the hand I think. it's happened to me a couple of times.

I take mine off to clean and when I shower/bath and when I bath DD.

Therefore I've found mine - on the window sill, by the sink, on the table, on the shelf on the bathroom mirror and on the highest shelf that is closest to the cleaning stuff.

Do you normally remove them for any reason? If not I'd have a go at hoovering and then picking through the hoover bag. You'd hopefully hear them rattling up the tube also!

Good luck!

I think you'd have heard them falling off if that had happened. I lost my wedding ring once when I was running after I'd lost weight and I heard it fall, even though I was on a dirt track.

I take my engagement ring off when I change the sheets as I catch it when I try to tuck the sheets in at the end of the bed. I also take them off when I put cushion covers on. Have you done anything like that? When the DC were small I used to put them on the highest shelves I could reach so that they didn't pick them up, so sometimes I would lose them because I couldn't see them, especially if I'd put something else on the shelf and pushed them back.

Failing all that, I once found mine in the kitchen cupboard where I keep flour as I'd taken them off before my hands got covered in dough or pastry or something.

Really hope you find them soon :)

great suggestions - thank you. This afternoon I am going to hoover and go through the bag - and also check the washing machine filter. As well as double checking all high shelves. I supposedly work from home, but not much work is being done while this is bothering me...

Mine once fell off when I was drying my hands - I was very lucky because I was using a paper towel, which then got thrown in the bin. I didn't notice at the time - but later, when I realised it was gone I somehow guuessed what had happened. I was on my way home, so I phoned a colleague and asked her if she would look in the bin for me! she did and it was there.

so yes, check the washing maching - might have got caught up in a towel. also laundry basket.

I found mine under the sofa, I'd lost weight and it just flew off when I was waving my hands around, it took me ages to find it because it's thin and blended with the carpet.

No way it would fall off now all the weights gone back on Sad

I take mine off when the kids are playing with play doh - I can't stand getting it stuck in all the crevices in my rings.

Mine went down the plughole in the kitchen sink (never noticed it go!) and was found 3 years later by a plumber.

hatwoman that happened to me twice. Once a at the church pils attend. I kind of "knew" when we got home what had happened. Lucky dh had to go back, and ask the churchwarden if he could go through the bin in the ladies loo!

It also happened at work - again paper towels. I heard my phone ring and was waiting for an urgent call. I ran out of loo, then yelled at my poor colleagues "my wedding ring is in the bin!" they went and retrieved it.

I think my rings are a tiny bit big.

Also to answer the op on occasion I have taken them off during/after applying handcream or hair products. So on occasion they are on my bedside table/bedroom window sill.

Also in the past I have kind of threaded them through my watch strap when not wearing it.

DH has checked the vacuum cleaner bag and the washing machine filter for me (all without a grumble, thus handily reminding me of why I married him in the first place, as if to make up for the absence of a ring). Still no joy, though I have found my second best watch, and DD2's favourite yoghurt spoon (under her bed - how did that get there??).

On the morning I noticed they were missing I had done an exercise DVD (Jillian Michaels, of course - am a good MNer) so schroeder's experience makes me wonder if they are stuck in some distant corner of the living room, propelled there by a particularly energetic jumping jack. I had also (for the first time in my life) applied fake tan so wonder if I took them off then, but have hunted in every nook and cranny in the bedroom.

Sigh - however, backforjustaminute gives me hope. 3 years! Had you claimed on your insurance?? I am holding off claiming, thinking surely they must turn up. But I can't wait 3 years! Am thinking I might ask my parents if I can have my grandmother's ring to wear in the meantime. DH's job for tomorrow is the sink u-bend.

Today I woke up, happy. Took 1 look at my left hand, and panicked, my engagement ring wasn't there!!!! I have searched the full house, in fact, that's me just finished. I was in town yesterday, and got a cab home. I know I had it on when I entered the cab, as I'm left handed. Cab company are saying I need to find driver, but found out he's not working today, what, of anything, can I do?

I’ve lost my engagement ring too. We were doing some diy recently and I must have taken it off and popped it somewhere safe. Now I just need to remember where some place safe is. In the meantime my house is very clean with all the searching. Silver linings.

I lost my grandmothers and mums. They had been in a trinket dish. DH had a man in to install better internet. He was in bedroom alone and I went mad with DH. I have learnt from experience not to be so trustworthy and thought it might be too much temptation for someone. They are worth a lot of money and are usually secreted away but I had worn them the night before and not put them away. I made an excuse to go up to bedroom and faffed about putting something cheap in and taking them out. I didn’t put them on because I was washing up. I put them somewhere safe and in eight years I have never found them. I am gutted due to sentimental value not monetary. I hope you find yours. I looked and looked but no luck so far. It is really upsetting.

Oh Bower that is truly awful.

Gemme I lost my wedding ring about 6 months ago and it’s still not turned up. I think I took it off in the house when I applied handcream but it’s never turned up.

My DGM lost hers and it turned up 8 years later when my DGF was spreading compost on his veg patch. She must have lost it whilst peeling the veg Smile

I lost my engagement ring for 3 months! I’d left it on the side. I heard a ‘ping’ but was in a rush (going to a wedding then straight on holiday!) so dismissed. We searched high and low. Couldn’t find it. I dreamt about finding it!
DH suggested getting it replaced but I didn’t want to because it was one of a kind..one morning I decided to do a general tidy up. Started with a drawer filled with stuff that had no home. Opened up a carrier bag and there it was! DH was away and I rang him in tears! So my advice if you’ve lost something that’s probably at home, would be to do a general tidy up, things turn up.

Dying to know if @dotty2 ever found them as I see her posts were 7 years ago!
