Whenisitmysleepytime · 15/06/2011 09:21

ds has just started using the potty.
Previously it has gathered dust or been climbe on so very easy to deal with.
However after 2 potty wees in the last couple of days I now need to know how to deal with it.

Please give me the idiots guide to potty cleanliness!

:)

By "deal with it" I guess you mean clean it? Wipe it out with disinfectant after every use, leave to dry. Simples! Wink

Flush, rinse with water for wees, wipe out with loo roll for poos and then wash in the bath with hot water and washing up liquid or squirty bathroom cleaner (I empty first lot of water down the loo to a) flush loo and b) minimise poo germs in bath.)

  1. tip contents down loo
  2. give it a good squirt with your chosen cleaning spray (Flash with bleach here) and a wipe with loo roll if necessary. Flush loo roll away
  3. rinse under a tap
  4. leave to dry
  5. place in prominent position in the home for guests to admire...

If out and about, a Pottette is a godsend. Everything goes into an absorbent nappy-bag which can be tied up and disposed of.

Can you still get pottettes, Nightlark? I had one for DD1 (19 years ago) and DS (17 years ago) but by the time DD2 needed one (15 years ago) I couldn't find anyone selling the bags to go in it! Sad

Well my 2 were potty trained a while ago...but...(I think I am going to be called dirty Grin)

  1. Wee - just tip it away in the toilet, as long as no drips round outside/base of potty, no cleaning necessary.

  2. Poo - a "nice" turd - get toilet paper/flushable wipe and grab turd and put in toilet. Any smears in potty, wipe with flushable wipe.

  3. Poo - the odd poo that isn't very easy to pick up - tip/fish out with flushable wipe. Clean potty with dettol/antibac type wipes.

  4. Occasionally I used to clean my potties in carex Grin, a good swill with water.

    Perhaps I should stop now.
