Ooh! I am first to post on our new thread! Grin Thanks again bessie - does this mean we all have to turn over a new leaf and get newly motivated again? I vote for a yes on that and will be sharing Maltesers for the least procrastination today. Grin

SharonGless · 21/03/2011 22:36

Boo! Found you.
New leaf sounds like a good idea. I have ironed tonight and kitchen is pretty tidy. Hotspot done and sink is shiny. Back on track!

I defn need some more motivation carrots (like the impending arrival of #2 isn't enough? Hmm) and don't deserve any maltesers today

I did do loads of sorting out yesterday, and hope to get lots more done this week, but my plans for winding down (on mat leave now Grin) have been scuppered by DH hitting his finger with a hammer at the weekend, which meant my Saturday afternoon was spent at A&E and he's now bandaged up & unable to do anything useful (like wash up, bathe DD or finish the bloody decorating) for at least a week

On the plus side, most of the missions for the week I don't need to do [smug] so I can concentrate on getting the spare room sorted! How's your DH getting on with his filing in the study carrots? (or shouldn't we ask!)

Carrotsandcelery · 22/03/2011 10:34

Don't ask about dh and the study - it is a bit of a sticky subject in this house just now Hmm
On the plus side I seem to be back on track and had done my 15 min declutter before I took the dcs to school Shock
Dh did manage to forget to put the dishwasher on last night though so it is on now and the breakfast dishes are waiting patiently at the side of the sink.
I have hung up a load of washing, folded a load and put another on to wash. Tea is also made (as far as it can be until we get in tonight) but the smell is torturing me and now I am starving.
I have a few more hot spots in the kitchen which I want to tackle today. There is not enough ironing to make it worth getting the board etc out so that will be done tomorrow Grin unless I get really bored and decide to do dh's ironing for him. [unlikely emoticon]
This is today's mission here
I hope your dh's finger improves quickly bessie - it sounds grim.
Sharon glad you found us and it sounds like you are on track - please give the rest of us a boot to get us moving Grin
I think you and bessie share yesterday's Maltesers, although I may steal a couple myself first as I think we all did quite well yesterday Grin

Hello again. On my lunch break now. What has everyone done with their morning? I got absorbed in sorting Playmobil Blush as ds had it out yesterday with a friend and couldn't play as he wanted as it was all muddled up. The pirates are now separate from the farm stuff etc Grin
I also spent a little while wrapping dd's birthday gifts - not that I am excited for her or anything Grin Grin
The other thing I have done is remove some more of the outgrown clothing from ds wardrobe (and the hand me downs that I just know I will never put him in [ungrateful emoticon]) There are still a few t-shirts in there that I am doubtful will fit but without him here to try them on I have left them for now.

I have been to the hairdressers [preen], the second-hand baby stuff shop and mothercare. I did mop the kitchen & utility floor - then had to watch as DDs GP walked all over it in their dirty shoes Angry

Am just putting my feet up for 5 mins while DH reads DD stories & then I need to wash the baby stuff I bought today, make dinner and do a shopping list for tomorrow

carrots I have a big bag of clothes we've been given that i need DD to try on, but she has to be in the right mood for it or she gets all grouchy at me dressing & undressing her so it's going to take ages

You have both been very productive. I love sorting Playmobil out. I have done one toybox in DD bedroom and some of DS bedroom tonight. DS has a swapshop at school tomorrow where they have to donate something to a child in year below. This was an excuse for a clearout plus a charity bag arrived through the door this morning - a sign!

Weeded front garden today too and cleared some leaves from under hedge. feel good about starting the garden and fingers crossed the weather stays like this for a few days. However the weather is also making me impatient as I have so many jobs to do such as painting, gardening, decluttering. Just got an ipod touch - any good apps for organising?

I am very interested in the the apps idea. My BIL (except they are not yet married) is coming up in a couple of weekends and I am hoping he will be able to sort out my computer, itunes, ipod problems (poor man and I love him dearly too!) I will have to have a nosey once it is working again.
It sounds like you have both got loads done today
bessie we need the right mood for clothes trying on here too and it usually ends in a row so I always have to brace myself. Hmm

Hello, can I join you please?
Discovered flylady a week ago and feeling happier already! Things had really started to get out of control so think I may have found it just in time.
How long have you all been doing it? I'm worried that my burst of enthusiasm my burn itself out and really don't want it to! Love my shiny sink too much now!

Hello sponge welcome to flying! We all(?) started at new year, but some of us are still busy decluttering!

Glad you are loving your shiny sink! It's amazing what a difference it makes! Where are you upto on the baby steps?

Hello sponge - welcome to flylady!
What has everyone done today?
I went out with a friend today and then we had our usual Wed pm madness after school so I haven't got heaps done. I have done my routines though (washing, dishwasher, swish & swipe, hoovered etc.) so all is not lost. The house looks ok apart from a) the study obviously and b) the kitchen, which was tidy but seems to have exploded again. Hmm
We are getting the sunshine so I am vaguely contemplating doing a few jobs in the garden before it is too late.
sponge I have learned that the trick with enthusiasm is not to go too fast. Do it babystep at a time or you may feel overwhelmed. Infact, I imagine it wouldn't hurt many of us to do babysteps with you again from wherever you have got to. I know it would help me. Which one are you on?

carrots a refresher on the baby steps is a great idea - how shiny was everyone's sink this morning? Mine was lovely when I went to bed last night, but DH put the pizza trays in there "to soak" before he came up to bed

For those who are so inclined, here is Kelly's Mission and if you're feeling really keen, here's the detailed cleaning but quite honestly, it is far too nice & sunny to be doing that today! Grin

I've got a massage later this morning (hard life eh?), then I'm off to get some marks put on my back so DH knows where to stick the TENS machine!

So far today I've had a quick vacuum (the cats are moulting everywhere!), swished the bathroom, emptied all the bins and done a bit of tidying/room rescue. Am going to get a cup of tea now, empty the dishwasher & attack my post pile (major hot spot)

Hello,
I'm on day 9, but I think I missed the day of 'swish and swipe' so I've got two new things to do today - S&S and 5 minute room rescue. Have done morning routine and now trying to sort out utility room. My problem here is that DH uses it as a kind of shed - but it's where I do the laundry so drives me mad!

Sink is very shiny, house is better and although I'm getting so much more done, I seem to have more time to do things wwith the dds. It's great so far!

Are your dhs / dps 'on board'? DH is such a hoarder - most of the crapclutter that I need to get rid of is his and he doesn't like it! I haven't told him about flylady - but he has commented on tidiness - wondered if I was pg again!

sponge good to hear you're getting results from flylady! I think we've all found that once areas are clean, they are much more likely to STAY clean Grin. My DH is slightly on-board - I haven't told him about the complete FLYlady thing, but he knows the sink needs to be clear before we go to bed (which is why I got annoyed by the soaking pizza trays this morning!), and I am trying to train him to swish but he keeps "forgetting" Hmm

Can you ask your DH to clear his stuff out of the utility room at the weekend? If he doesn't have anywhere to put it, perhaps you could give him a (small) corner of the utility room to use as a dumping ground storage area? I find I get better results from DH if I only ask him to sort a small pile of stuff out - if I give him too much, he'll just get grumpy put it in a box & says he'll "do it later"

I can't see "swish & swipe" on Day 9 so I don't think she's got to it yet

I've been inspired by re-reading the decluttering page, so am off to do some right now!

Hello everyone!
I wrote a post earlier and it has vanished into the ether so if I have posted twice on everyone else's boards I apologise.
I have been on fire today. I have decluttered the garage and have now taken two packed car loads to the tip (and I drive an estate!) where we have all sorts of recycling available.
I have also weeded both flower beds in the front garden and all the pots there and planted out plants I got yesterday. Now at least the front of the garden looks more cheerful and spring like. Grin
I have put one load in the dishwasher too but that is about all in the house so far today. The kitchen looks grim though so I will have to get cracking in here. I did swish and swipe the main bathroom though.

bessie I hope you enjoy(ed) your massage. How long have you got to go now? I found the tens machine really helpful with both my labours. Are the marks with permanent markers or something? Or is it just to show him and then he has to memorise it? Grin

sponge (ace name for flyladying!) my dh is sort of on board, as are the dcs sort of. I do the majority but I am a SAHM and around the most so that makes sense for us. Dh still does a lot though when he is here (works long hours). He never, ever swishes or swipes though. It is more dishes, hoovering, washing, bins that he does. The dcs enjoy having a few jobs to help out and are getting better at decluttering their own messes (slowly). My dh does know about flylady and does appreciate the results and tries hard to be supportive of it.

Do you have dcs sponge - are they old enough to get involved too?

carrots I think you get to keep the maltesers today for making the most of the sunshine! Grin

I am 37 wks tomorrow, so I can stop worrying about this one arriving early like DD Grin My massage was fab, my shoulders feel about 2" lower than they were this morning, and then I had a nice walk in the sunshine to the hospital where the maternity physio drew crosses on my back with a permanent marker - DH will have to go over them with more pen every time I have a bath!

I did loads of decluttering all over the house this afternoon (lost count of the number of times I set my 10 minute timer!), also did a load in the dishwasher & washing machine, cleaned some cat and toddler snot off the insides of the windows, put bedding on the moses basket and have even done some sewing tonight

DD is at home with me tomorrow & we'll be out singing nursery rhymes in the morning so am expecting tomorrow to be much less productive!

Shock bessie I think we need to share the bag or even have a bag each!!! Shock
Dd came and gardened with me this afternoon after school and even ds was trying to help dig holes with the spade for a new climber I was putting in. (He could stand on both sides of the spade without it sinking in at all! Grin)

Hello everyone. I am deep cleaning the kitchen today ready for the weekend. I have decluttered and scrubbed the table, scrubbed the worktops, put on the dishwasher and I am about to start on the other end which is a bit more daunting eg desk covered in craft, sideboard covered in letters, gardening stuff by the back door, hoovering etc.
I have also finally got the sheets from the downstairs beds into the wash! Shock
Once all that is done I have a stack of ironing to do.
Then, and only then, will I allow myself into the garden to potter about there Grin. I think we have snow forecast again for the weekend so I am bracing myself.

Today's mission is here

Today is also car and handbag day for those it is relevant to.

Today's babystep is here We were on no 10 weren't we?

I also have smokey tacos to cook at some point today. Last night's tea was vile but I will post this one if it turns out ok. I have bought the tofu but not quite plucked up the courage to cook it yet bessie - what would you recommend as a starter recipe with it?

Report
bessie26 · 25/03/2011 14:50

carrots - how about a stir fry? that's how we eat most of our tofu. DH loves this as it's got lots of soy sauce in, I love this because of all the ginger. Or just drain the tofu on plenty of kitchen roll, shallow fry and add to your favourite stir-fry veg & sauce.

Smokey tacos sound nice, DH is planning to leave work early today, so we're all having cheesy corn cakes for tea

DH put all the clean laundry away yesterday so no mission for me today! Will have to do car & handbag instead. Spookily, I set my timer for 15mins earlier to do some weeding in the garden, am off upstairs now to do 15mins in the spare room & then off for a nap to put my feet up for a bit!

I've done all my morning / daytime babysteps, saving the 15 minute anything for when DCs are in bed (they are 1 and 3 so not a huge amount of help!). Done my car, handbag in a minute. Supper is leftover fishpie from yesterday so I'm feeling sorted. DD even noticed the tidy kitchen today!

I'm going to wait till I've finished the babysteps before I do 'missions' - is that wise? Am so keen not to 'burn out' as I'm so chuffed with the results so far.

Have a lovely weekend all!

Definitely save the missions for later sponge as they repeat and they add a new extra once you are doing the other routines without having to think about them. It might be too much and put you off just now.

bessie thanks for the recommendations. I fancy the ginger one and have all the ingredients except mirin. What is mirin? I have never heard of it. [ignorant emoticon]

The smokey tacos were nice but I would prefer them without the red wine personally. I will post the recipe later. I like my own chilli better really though but it is nice to have variations. I still haven't repeated a recipe for 7 or 8 weeks so tea time is getting pretty interesting Shock

I got a lot more decluttering done and half of the ironing. I haven't done my handbag yet but the car is decluttered, just not hoovered.

It rained all afternoon here so the garden was out of the question but I wouldn't have got there anyway as I haven't got the sideboard sorted yet either.

The best part of the day though, was today's snack after school. The dcs are having tough times at the mo so I decided to bake them an end of week cake - YUMMY! Grin

Hello girls - just marking the new thread. I've given up Mumsnet for Lent(!) so I shouldn't be here, but am lurking / checking out Flylady depending on how my resolve's going. Big soapy / swishy / shiny kisses to all xxx

I realised I made them wrong - I only used one can of tomatoes and forgot the sugar so it probably works better than I thought with the wine. Grin
