Laundry mathematics: How many airers do you have? Is there an optimum ratio?

always having to wait 24 hours before putting on next load of washing. never catching up.

What works?
I can never bring myself to buy another airer, they are so fucking boring and not cheap.

I justify a dehumidifier on the basis that it is not a.........tumble dryer

but my towels come out of it soooo fluffy and soft

we have 2 and can fit up to 4 loads of washing on them - shirts, polo shirts etc go on hangers and hang off the airer too. socks hang on those clippy things that hang off the airer roo. We have airers similar to this

I use my line on every slightly nice day even if it's freezing. I have 2 airers but I HATE them clogging up my house. It all goes out until daylight goes then a quick tumble to finish the drying. I love my tumble drier and would use it more if it were free to run.

I have one airer and we are five people and wear a lot of clean clothing/like clean sheets and towels.

However, I have a very warm and well ventilated apartment and use my tumble dryer a lot - not to dry clothes but I tumble for 10 minutes to remove creases before hanging to dry.

I have a foldy airer that I only use in the summer as an add on to the washing line- I loathe airers in a house

I like to tumble dry or drape wet stuff artfully over the radiators

OP-get a tumble dryer for heavens sake

At the moment I have 2 full airers in the lounge - yes I know people will curl their lip in distaste, I hate them too - but unfortunately we have no tumble dryer and I've got a backlog of washing from when my pipes were frozen. The lounge has a log burning stove so is the warmest room in the house. I do 2 loads of washing a day and put a load on each airer.
I too can't wait until the weather is better and I can put it all out on the line!

4 cheap white metal/plastic airers. 2 doubles and 2 triples.
2 adults and 2 children. Is enough.

I have 6 dining chairs which all have 3 bars across each back. My dining area is currently a chinese laundry

1 adult, 2 children - 1 airer (takes 2 mid-sized (not full) loads).
If doing sheets then I hang then on radiator airers hung over the top of a door - so they get the full hanging length.

Ah but we have a washer/drier.
So if we're drying we're not washing.
It takes forever to dry clothes.
DH would have a fit.
We use it for emergencies only ie. uniform not dry at 8am kind of emergency.

We don't have an airing cupboard or a futility room.

I put jeans/towels on the radiators. Air stuff over 24 hours an then 10 mins in the tumble drier.

I have 1 airer and there are 4 of us. I put shirts etc on hangers and hang them off the airer. Socks and undies go on radiators, jeans and sheets and towels go over the bannister. I have a largish landing and have found that the clothes dry quicker upstairs. When stuff is nearly dry (or if I have another load waiting to be dried)I put them on top of the immersion in the airing cupboard.
I do have tp plan what i am going to wash. I alternate stuff that will ned to go on the drier with stuff that doesn't. I also find that as stuff dries I can move it around on the drier and fold it in half to make more space. It's a full time job

I have this airer from IKEA.

It holds one load (I don't use the lower hanging area unless desperate)

I do one load a day - well overnight as I am on economy 7 electricity. Hang to dry during day and then put away when new load gets hung up the next day.

I never dry to catch up with the laundry as I do one load per day iyswim.

then back to whites.

I've got the jml dri-buddy and I bloody love it, doesn't seem to have made much of a difference to our electricity bill and I can get a whole load dry in a few hours. (perhaps someone lovely can link for me?)

Other than that I have a balcony airer which dh mounted on the wall in the box room which provides quite a lot of space and lies flush to the wall when not in use though it never is just the 2 of us though, but we do seem to make an awful lot of washing
