TinselinaBumSquash · 20/12/2010 09:17

Ok im at home, my kids are driving me nuts, my flat needs tiding before Christmas day as that will undoubtedly create much more mess.

I am making a list (and checking it twice!)of all the things i need to do, its the only thing that spurs me on.

Please join me.

So today (or before xmas) i have to..

*Load the Dishwasher
*Phone the hospital for DS's test results
*Phone the other hospital about picking up more meds
*Get a prescription into the chemist
*Do as much laundry as i can
*Do DS's medication
*Feed the Cat
*Wrap the rest of the pressies
*Get a bin bag and de clutter every room
*Take bin bags down the tip
*Deliver pressies to family
*Get to the cash point

My list is as follows:

-wrap presents
-deliver presents
-write out cards
-deliver cards
-tackle the Mount Everest of ironing
-wash the clothes all four of us wear before christmas eve
-take bin bags of broken toys to tip
-get tip permit
-take bag of good toys that weren't played with to children's ward at local hospital.
-sort both dd's old clothes into sized piles for loft
-hoover out car (though not likely in this weather)
-Hoover and dust up and down.
-clean both bathrooms

Wow, that is therapeutic and feeling smug as sorted out the bedrooms and under the stairs cupboard yesterday.

ooh good, this is the thread for me. The slatterns threads are distinctly not slovenly enough. Xmas Grin

I am off (FT) work until 4 Jan, but have toddler in nursery today until Wednesday when they (outrageously) go on holiday, so I have to leave only the optional tasks for Thu/Fri.

-wait in for parcel (rearranged for today... not here yet...)
-write and send last 40 christmas cards (oops)
-get up to date with washing
-finish making DS's play kitchen. Is about 20% done Xmas Shock
-identify location of house decorations
-buy more decorations (any recommendations of where to get 'em cheap or discounted?)
-buy grout float, grout tiles in kitchen and futility room
-clear polyurethane paint the new wood floor in kitchen/dining room.
-clear out bedroom and living room of crap, take to storage unit and forget about it all for ever
-clear out DIY tools from dining room to shed/storage unit
-identify enough bedding to fit 1xKS and 2xdoubles (having my parents and PILs for two nights argh)
-email parents and PILs and tell them what bedding they should bring. Xmas Blush
-wrap presents
-panic and buy more presents
-wrap them
-put up tree
-decorate tree, probably requiring more decorations
-buy and fit lots of draught excluder products (moved here January, have only just realised the DG windows aren't sealed around the edges)
-be in for tesco delivery on Wed pm.
-buy meat, cheese and booze from butcher, deli and Majestic. Respectively.
-think about something nice to wear on C Day.
-check menu plan, try not to panic buy more food

So, basically, this is a thread to list all the things you have to do, then re-post with the things that you have done highlighted? Genius! Here's mine:

  • Finish DC's bedroom
  • Present shopping
  • Food shopping
  • Baking
  • Put the washing away
  • Finish cleaning kitchen cupboards
  • Take the repairs in
  • Call the swimming people
  • Make sure DH gets to the Off Licence
  • Remember karate on Wednesday
  • Remember dermatologist on Thursday.

I spend far too much time on the internet :-(

I am stuck at home with the kiddies as DH had to take the car to work. So I have two days before I go back to work to get the house in pristine condition (including some sorting out and rearranging of furniture). Today I am doing upstairs. So far I have sorted out the small spare room to make space for some sofas we will be storing there). I have also cleared out the larger spare room which my brother has recently vacated (he lived with us for 2 years) and it was nasty- any ideas how to stop a mattress smelling of manky bloke? Grin. Left to do today:-

Tidy the kids room
Clean all upstairs windows
Tidy our room and sort out underwear and sock drawers
Clean all doors and skirting and dust upstairs
Hoover hallway and stairs
Clean bathroom

Tomorrow is downstairs which will take a bit longer as I have to clean the oven and fridge on top of all the other rooms.

I quite enjoy it actually it is just difficult to keep the kids from going stir crazy and making more mess. They are helping me out a bit but they get bored after 10 mins Grin

I finished shopping, wrapping presents and sending cards a while ago and cleaned the house from top to bottom at the weekend (including inside drawers and cupboards)but I still have to do the following:

  • Deliver a few presents.
  • Do a couple of loads of washing and ironing.
  • 2.5 more days at work.
  • Food shop for the fresh stuff.
  • Make gingerbread cookies for Father Christmas.
  • Relax and enjoy Christmas Eve.

I started in September, so I think I deserve the lack of panic.
