My second Dyson has just died. I hate Dyson's they don't pick up but the only good thing is that it didn't have bags. But it seems to get a better suction I need a bag cleaner. i have long hair which tends to clog up the vacuum cleaner should I get miele cat and dog? May end up having a cat in a year or so but will it deal with my long thick hair.

I was thinking of starting a thread about this too - but I've got the Miele Cat & Dog, and it isn't going so well. The long hair gets wound round the brush and I'm always having to cut it off. And it has lost a lot of suction and/or has got very clogged up. I've even taken the whole head apart with a torx screwdriver and untangled everything, but its still not back to how it was.

So hopefully someone can suggest a miracle cure for me too!

We've got an upright cat and dog dyson - one cat and my long hair (my mum always used to blame me when one of our vacuums gave up the ghost, very unfair when you're only 14 and never do the vacuuming!). It seems to cope OK - the trick is to make sure you pull the hair off the rollers regularly before it builds up. I do hate the dyson, but that's for different reasons (clunky, plasticky, heavy thing).

I hate my dyson so much I want rid and was thinking of treating myself to a miele. Thanks AMumINScotland for writing about your miele - I was about to buy one and the turbo brush getting clogged was my main worry. I have no pets but a DD with asthma and three teens with very long hair that fets everywhere and is very hard work to vacuum up. I had a Hoover pet vacuum before and the long hair gets wound around the brushes and needed dragging and cutting off each use so I guess the miele would be the same. However, turbo/rotary brushes seem to be the only effective way to lift the hair. As a temp measure I bougth a rubber headed brush which is great but very time consuming at lifting the hair. Does anyone know if the standar miele head (not the turbo head) is good at lifting long human hair?
many thanks

The standard head cope pretty well with my hair, which is shedding badly at the moment. I do need to cut it off the brush every so often, but it still seems to pick up ok even when it is completely clogged up.

There is an attachment from Dyson called the Tangle Free brush roll. It fits most new Dyson vacuums and the attachment is included when you purchase the Animal and Complete version of the Dyson models.
