Vacuum recommendations please - my 8 year old Dyson has just died!

Is Dyson still the best vacuum out there or is there something better I should spend my money on? I have a mixture of engineered wood flooring and carpet so need something that would work well on both surfaces. Have been looking at this dyson but would welcome any other recommendations. TIA smile

I personally LOVE my Henry! Best one ever in my opinion.

my mum has the best vacuum cleaner i have ever used

it's a miele one, not the cat and dog, just a regular cylinder one
it's SOOOOO sucky, and yet soooo quiet, very light to carry as well

would def buy one if i needed one

Roomba if you can manage it. No more hoovering. It does a grand job too.

I'm with gregtheguineapig as my 10 year old Henry is fantastic and totally indestructible. Its cleared up building waste, been used to clean the chimney and still gets my floors really clean

I like my Henry. Much cheaper than a Dyson and sucks just as well. It has lovely long cables and hoses, which makes doing stairs, skirting boards and corners really easy.

My Dyson have a 10 yr guarantee, hate it bought a Henry and love him I have a sheepdog who live in doors and a DP who cuts timber with a electric table saw in my kitchen Henry keeps me sane grin

Not a Henry.
I use one at work and he is evil.
I went back this week after a month off and he threw himself at my ankle and bit it hard. I now have a big bruise.
He's also heavy, falls over all the time and sticks to the carpet.
And all with that demonic grin. I kick him often, and sometimes push him down the stairs and laugh.

I'm normal, really, just have a hatred of Henrys.

the dyson roller ball is absolutely fab for a fuss free clean. I had a dyson for years so when it packed up i just changed for the ball. fab smile

I love my Henry and will replace it with another when it eventually dies....

You do know he's sucking out your soul and planning evil whilst you sleep?

In the Which best buys of the year supplement they recommend Bosch BSG8PRO1GB Home Professional. £250. Says its cheapest at Argos (online only)
