we recently moved into our 'dream' house, everything was going swimmingly until someone came to visit and rang the doorbell! It sounded like the death cry of some poor animal..... it's really old (but is electric so can't be ancient).

Anyway, it has to go, it freaks out the children, me and dh have talked and we think that a wireless one would be far easier that dismantling half the house to replace just the 'chime'- what are their downfalls?

lastly Blush i am hankering after one that i can set the tune on (yes i know- horribly tacky, but maybe quite fun in a retro chic "the bucket residence, the lady of the house speaking" kind of way Blush, 'deck the halls' at festive times, and the ability to set it 'the dance of the sugar plum fairy' when sil is due to visit Grin etc, is anyone going to admit to having the friendland mychime- and if so what's it like?

Downfall of wireless ones depends on who in your road is on the same frequency and how many cabs you have going down your road in the middle of the night! Returned our one and wired a new one in!

I've got a cheap plug in one from ebay - it's fine although occasionally it changes from bing bong to fur elise - or my husband is winding me up.

We had to liaise with the neighbours to get our on different frequencies - kept us both confused for a while Grin
