Dish drainers - do they have to get manky???

At the moment I am deeply ashamed of mine - it's almost criminal to put anything that you'd eat off to dry on it. That's not to say that I do not give it a rinse everday but the limescale and grunge just keep building up!

I have the plastic kind but wonder if stainless steel or chrome ones would be less prone to build up (ie perhaps some surfaces allow greater adherence of grunge )

Will def bin the current one but if anyone has a good one to recommend I'd be grateful. Also, maintenance tips might be handy.

Put it in the dishwasher once a week!

I actually have a chrome one, it does not seem to get gunky but then I only put clean, rinsed stuff on it.

Never even thought of putting it in the dishwasher..

I only put clean rinsed stuff on as well!! The mankiness (is that a word?) I refer to is the limescale!

And the rinse aid in the machine gets rid of it once a week.
