I don't want to send my DD to school again after long running bullying and things coming to a head yesterday.I want to deregister my DD and have her grandparents educate her until we can get her into another school.
Can I legally deregister her without notice? Can I delegate HE to grandparents .Am I entitled to get her school records ? Do I need to inform the EWO ?

IF you're in England, no need to give notice. You simply use the form letter on the Education Otherwise site:

here

The only people you need to inform are the school. You do not need to tell them exactly who will be doing the education.

no idea about the records, I'm afraid. You definitely don't need to inform the ewo

If you're in scotland, it's slightly different.

bumping relevant thread for you...

you aren't obliged to inform the EWO but if you want to help other children at the school your child has now left you should do so. You simply tell them what you have done and why.

I don't know for definite about school records, but I know when I asked DD's secondary for her work, so I could see what she had been doing and move on from there, they said they would send it to the next school but not release it to a home educator.

Whether they had a right to do this or not, I never knew, but we never managed to get them.

Yes here's all the info about school records.

What to do
Write to the Chair of the Governors of your child?s school.
See guideline letter. (Retain a copy for your records)
The school has 15 school days in which to comply with your request.
When you view or receive copies of the records, make a list of everything
you see or receive. If you view the records in school when you go
home copy this list and send 2 copies to the Headteacher with a letter
requesting that one copy is signed and returned to you as confirmation
that this is an accurate list of ALL the information the school has on your
child?s records.
Whilst looking through the files you may decide that you wish to have
a copy of all or some of the contents. You can ask the school to provide
this. The school may charge you for photocopying but this should not
be at a rate higher than generally expected to pay for photocopying
elsewhere.
Guideline letter to request sight/copies of your child?s
school records
Please amend as relevant to your request
From: parent?s name and address
To: Chair of the Governors
C/o (Name and address of school)
Date:
Dear ???????????
Child?s name, date of birth and current year group
I / We wish to view / receive copies of all/the items listed below of my /
our son?s / daughter?s school records and wish for you to request the
Headteacher to arrange this. I / we will expect to be able to see any
information kept in my / our son?s / daughter?s general file and those
records kept separate from the general file, i.e. the special educational
needs file and incident records.
I / We understand that you must comply with this request within 15
school days and that arrangements will be made for me / us to view the
records confidentially.
Whilst I/we realise that for safety reasons you may wish to arrange for a
member of staff to be present whilst I / we am / are viewing the records
I / we am / are sure that this person will allow me / us complete privacy.
After viewing the records I / we may request the school to provide me / us
with a copy of either the complete or parts of the records for which I / we
am / are happy to pay the cost of the photocopying.
I / We look forward to receiving your reply.
Yours sincerely
