Could someone be able to advise about statements and home ed?

Hi, I asked on the SN's board whether ds would lose his statement if I withdrew him from school and home educated him, and they suggested I ask on here

I would like the option of ds going back to school when he/I feel he's ready to re-join but would be fearful that he would lose his statement.

Ds's difficulties are more to do with social interaction with other children and anxiety rather than the academic side of things, so if they were to carry on with the yearly reviews how would they be able to pick up on this in the home environment? It took great effort from his previous school to get him a statement in the first place, and without a schools involvement I am concerned that his statement would cease to exist.

Has anyone got any info about this? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Hello macwoozy

It is my experience that LAs like to mainatin a statement of SEN.

You would usually be the person giving the information about yours sons education when you HE-so you would be the one telling them about his social interaction etc.

The very best place to ask this question is on the E Special Neds email support list
parents there will be able to give your more details-as many will have done just this.
