Just got back online after moving and we have also deregistered at last! Beany, you mentioned a beach meet up in Kent this month and I was wondering if someone could fill me in as I couldn't find out from the Yahoo group - being a bit of a dufus!
Hope we haven't missed it.

The school did an amazing about turn regarding the Autumn try-again plan, demanding that Ds do lots of days at the end of this term to get him used to it before year one, but they sprang this on us in the middle of a rather traumatic house move and he clearly couldn't cope with it so we said, well, we'll try in September if you'll have us, but they wouldn't and this leads me to think it was a pretty deliberate ploy on their part to get shot.

They also started threatening us with the LEA welfare officer when they had agreed all along he didn't have to be in school this term, which I thought was appalling and made me more sure than ever that we are well out of that place.

How clever of them
We were not their type, evidently! (If the name Dolores Umbridge means anything to you Posy, then just wait till you meet the admissions secretary is all I can say )

Sooooo....we are having a visit from a very nice bloke whom a friend recommended,on Monday - he is the LEA liaison person and is going to come and meet us and then let the LEA know himself that we are definitely home educating, so we don't have to get the fear about that.

We're going to investigate our new local school, but tbh I have my doubts that anywhere is going to be free of the power tripping I hate so much. Total disenfranchisement as a parent seemed to be what it was all about.

Just an update really in case anyone is interested! How are you lot?

well am pleased to hear the good bits and not so much the bad bits, of course. at school! How horrible.

But you sound confident and happy and that is wonderful!

(You will of course know that one of the things Voledmort did, iirc, was to outlaw HEing....)

Best of luck, congratualtions etc, have to go now but will try to come back and say more

Fllight,

The South East Beach day is on Tuesday 22nd July at Joss Bay from 10 am.
Look out for a flag of some sort, but a huge gathering of parents and assorted kids hopefully will be easy to find.
I wont be there unfortunately.
Have you joined the ukhomeeducators yahoo group?

Thanks Bean
Excellent, it should be good! I'll meet you one day I hope.
I did join the group, thanks for the link - I was getting every message in my inbox and tried to get the digest instead but it wouldn't do it, then we moved and I lost broadband and still haven't sorted it out.

I'm going to try and get properly involved though now we are a proper HE family.
