Anyone in the middle of gcses?

Wondered if anyone's dc were doing any exams?
First paper today, much stomping around and generally being rude,so stressful.
It doesn't help that it's an hours drive (if traffic is ok) to the nearest exam centre.

I’ve been there a few times Carrie but this year I’m playing taxi for my friend’s DD. She came out of school in October after they didn’t deal with her ASD and my role has been to print off past exam papers and make encouraging noises.
It’s SO much easier when it isn’t your child. She saves all her anxiety for her mum then chats about revision, very sweetly, all the way to the exam centre with me.
I do feel for you, deep breaths all the way. Cake helps and ‘This too shall pass,’ as a mantra.

My son did both of his English exams last week, so one subject ticket off!
Biology was yesterday and Chemistry tomorrow morning, not looking forward to that as exam centre is 45 minutes away in non peak hour traffic.

Yes! I think the fact that we have to take them flippin' miles to the nearest extortionately expensive exam centre through heavy traffic means they should automatically be awarded at least an extra 5 marks Wink My DC's first exam is tomorrow and I am inwardly dreading a problem with the traffic and hence having to leave at the crack of dawn to avoid it, whilst remaining calm and positive outwardly.

The place where I have to take him for his Spanish exam (which costs nearly £500 btw) is 2 hours away in non-peak hour traffic. We had no choice but to do this either Sad

I am thinking it may be a good idea to go earlier and take breakfast with us!

Yes the trouble is, teens are no good with mornings. Thankfully he has physics in the afternoon!

Yes, travelling is a bugger. She left at 7.30 this morning, but couldn't eat. I packed her some toast but I think I'll get her a cereal bar/smoothie to take next week.
We are splitting hers over 2 years, she left school in year 10 so we had to change boards and subjects for a couple.
I don't think we could possibly have organised travel etc for them all in one go.
I hope she won't be disadvantaged being a year behind.
£500 good grief!

Twin DS doing GCSEs here :) tbh they seem fine, it will be over in a month anyway. Sightly worries royal wedding rehearsal in Windsor will clog the traffice on Thursday morning though!

Can I ask how many everyone's dc are doing? and how well are they motivated to study/revise in such a solitary environment?

Carrie, my DC is doing 9. He already has one. He was completely unmotivated in all areas of schooling until Easter when he has s l o w l y taken off. Not sure it's enough but he's in better shape than he was. I cannot wait until it is all over.

I'm sitting in Sainsbury's cafe feeling incredibly guilty that I'm enjoying a sticky bun and mug of tea while DS is struggling through a chemistry paper!

Did anyone's DC sit the Edexcel biology paper on Tuesday? The hippo question was trending on twitter all evening Grin
