Hello Smile

I'm posting on behalf of a friend who is not a MNner, she currently has her DS aged 12 [yr8] at home due to ongoing issues with his school [He has a statement,he has ADHD/ALSO poss ASD]

School have been a bit crap understatement and have not sent him any work to do whilst at home, he has not been in school for more than 1 week since end of summer term this year. He is still on the school roll so not technically HEd

She HEd him some years ago between school placements quite successfully and at that time he attended Kumon for maths and she was able to source other work for him to do.

I was wondering if any of you parents here know of and have any links for preferably free online resources that would meet key stage 3 requirements?

At the moment HE is a temporary measure with a view to a suitable placement for him being found soon.

He is a very bright boy and is missing learning, she is trying to find him stuff to do with some success but feels he needs more suitable work.

My DSs use I think its called www.Mylo.com via a school log on for language HW which is really good and fun to do, I wondered if there is anything like this available for use via a parents registration/log on?

His IT skills are good and I think he finds working with software 'work programmes' easier than written work, they are definitely more fun and engaging!

I would be really grateful for any recommendations of online resources and really any other advice from you experts! I have read on other areas of MN that there are some v knowledgable and helpful members here so I thought this would be a good place to ask.

TIA

www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks3bitesize/ is an excellent free resource. For a small outlay, I strongly recommend www.mathletics.com and www.spellodrome.com/.

Thank you I will pass on those links.

I know she wont mind paying if they are worth it, just thought I'd check if there are good free ones too!

My DS2 loved this also this.

This has loads of projecty type things which DS2 also loved, National geographic is very good as well. PBS has some interesting stuff

DS2 also really enjoyed this. It's pretty American but very interesting and full of useful little skills
